Of course there will be more interest. If it is self sufficient to allow teams to become professional is a different story

But you've just said that over the last 50 years women's football wouldn't have generated enough interest still ... which contradicts your opinion going forward

No it doesn’t contradict at all. So you can say with certainty that if women’s football wasn’t banned then the league would have been self sufficient enough to have every team professional?

The game would be in a much better position today ofcourse , like 50 years ahead of what it's at now better

So you can’t say, so again you are wrong

I can say with certainty the women's game would be in a much better place than it is today , had it not been banned for 50 years .. there's nothing wrong with that statement .

Add to the social norms being different, what you grew up with , women's football would have been a bigger more socially accepted thing 37 years ago and would have been going for well over 60 years .. society would view it differently with changing attitudes much earlier on .. much like women's tennis

I agree with this, but I think it's a separate issue from the funding of the ladies team in my opinion.

No as Dave Johnson was trying to use the team against the club and promote the Jimmy hill way rubbish thought it. They went to Cov United as Johnson Kalns those weirdos rich and James Alexander thought they could get the whole united package as a pheonix entity

I still don't see what the women were supposed to do if they needed funding and City weren't going to give it to them?

Can't disagree with what you're saying about Johnsons motives, he's a slippery fuck who too many people who should know better listen to, (or did, he seems to have disappeared), Kalns is just a moron.

Because they were in charge of making the decisions about the women's team.

I have two girls here with dreams of playing professional football , one is very talented and I've got bellends on social media hell bent on putting their passion down.. because they are women

If your daughter is good enough she will get spotted regardless of whether Coventry United ladies exist or not. Any half decent Cov based player will quickly be snapped up by Villa or Blues as it is, as they are much higher up the ladder in ladies football. As pointed out by others I can't see a scenario where the junior set up does not continue either, as I would expect that to be largely self funding (I presume your daughters pay subs) by those involved in the various age group teams. Having a professional ladies team though is plainly going to be a money loser so I'm not sure what you are expecting. Ladies football is effectively a different sport to the men's game and attract different support bases the same way as CRFC do or Cov Blaze do, albeit there will obviously be a minority that crossover and support both. The majority of our supporters are therefore unlikely to support our club financially keeping another club afloat when our own financial status is not that good in the first place.

I don't disagree, it's still a nice thing to currently have a natural progression into women's professional football .. in the same way Jordan Shipley got to play for Coventry city but wasn't good enough to play for villa , the ladder for him was there into professional football .. albeit at a lower level

We're a half-decent sized city, and it's a bit of pride if we can compete at a half decent level at things anyway. I don't really want to have to look at Villa having a team half full of Coventry born and bred female footballers, when we can run a team ourselves if the will is there.

How often do you look at the villa women's lineup?

In an ‘egalitarian’ city it makes sense for both sexes to have a mutually supportive attitude to its citizens and clubs. The present predicament of Cov United would be to the detriment upon the status of our city if it led to closure.

I'm saying it was people like kalns and Johnson calling the shots.

They clearly cant afford to be a pro team wherever they go.

But they got an offer and took it, can't blame them no matter what you think of those pair.

Would it?

How supportive were cov united and the people involved with cov ladies? They weren't arsed about the actual men's pro team not being here. They actually tried to benefit from it.

Well, by now they will have learnt from their mistake. No need to let this bitterness eat away at you….😂👍

Let them learn from their mistake then when they all go up the wall.

Aren't you one of their muckers anyway?

If they were under any other banner, sphinx, copsewood I’d go along with that - but I’m not bothered about United. They can take the relegation… rebuild and get promotion but I won’t support them

Then, time to campaign for CCFC to give women's football proper support, then.
