so he’s just won an Oscar for best actor but is Shown to be a shite actor by unsuccessfully staging a fake spat with tbe host - Hows that helping his career?

I didn't say it was?

Maybe they should have Will on the last leg, teach Him a few things about humour…

the number of people on social media saying stuff like 'it was genuine, you can tell by his reaction', do they not know what the two people involved do for a living?

And yet I’m still yet to hear a good explanation for why they would go to the trouble of staging it.

While there's merit in some kind of stunt being staged it doesn't make sense for it to be this and involve Will Smith, it's already completely overshadowed his winning the highest honour in his craft so I can't see why he'd be in on it.

Because everybody in the world is now talking about it.

Say Will Smith and Chris Rock were just about to start to collab a project together, what is the best way of generating huge interest in it before it even starts.

They can now run a multi-film contract together along with a shit load of interviews and a feel good reconciliation story.

Smith has won an Oscar which is hugely prestigious but pays fuck all whereas the publicity generated by this could lead to hundreds of millions of dollars.

It could have been a completely impromptu bit of violence from people who have learned to control their actions in public for most of their lives but the cynic in me thinks we'll see more stuff over the next few years that will show it is likely to be staged.

Well, it’s definitely added to Chris Rocks stand up routine…

must be at least 30 minutes of new material right there…

I have no doubt it was to generate some interest in the oscars. The viewership is at an all time low

The moment itself wasn’t even broadcast live in the US - funny way to drum up ratings.

Do you realise how crazy this all sounds? That Will Smith wanted to overshadow the proudest moment in his professional career because he needs the money from a hypothetical collab with Chris Rock?

Nearly as crazy as hearing about his wife sleeping about on a Live TV interview.
Yeah, I’m surprised a few more actors didn’t get up and slap him as well…. 😁

Drum up interest for the Oscars after everyone's realised the celebs are a bunch of self obsessed bellends. Smith & Rock get to have a 'boxing match' which will be hyped to fuck and they'll make a fortune on.

Definitely looked genuine to me. He and Jada found it funny until the crass joke about her alopecia. You can see both their faces change when he makes the GI Jane 2 comment.

He deserved a slap for that.
