The very worst thing about the Trump victory......

I look into the not-to-distant future & I now believe it is actually possible for that utter whopper, king of the bellends, Kanye West, to also run for & win the presidency in 2020......

Are you surprised ? Most of his bombastic rhetoric will be watered down to fairly mainstream policies now. I would have been more concerned if the crooked Clintons had made it back in, they just remind me of the money grabbing, nest lining cunty Blairs !

the problem is he had millions of right wing zoomers vote for him who expect all of his more crack pot policies to be carried out to the letter, and most of the fuckers own guns!

Some good points being made here by some but overwhelmingly there are so many who clearly have no interpretation of the American 'Psyche' shall we say.

Are you saying as they are "right wing zoomers" they should be denied a vote?

well shall we say that you don't realise the British psyche is we like to talk shite about subjects we are ill informed about and don't like smart arses coming on here telling us we don't know what are on about!!

I'm really not sure how you interpret that from that post.
I'm saying they will want some of his more out there policies implemented to the letter.
This toning down, (which may or may not happen), isn't going to wash with certain people.

Actually I think they just want a future which the political establishment has to date not provided.

it sounds like he's mobilised a section of society that don't usually vote so they probably don't realise that politicians don't actually carry out their promises.
The fact that many of them are armed to the teeth is what's worrying.
I am very suspicious of anyone who demands the right to possess a gun.

Most of his content during the race was mostly obnoxious hyperbole with little chance of delivery.
It obviously polarises society.
I have to say I'm perplexed as to why he ran.

Some of the swing states he won make that theory extremely unlikely.

well he won Florida despite a big Hispanic turn out for Clinton so he mobilised an unaccounted for vote from somewhere.
There was a C4 show from a gun show if Florida and the people they were interviewing were bonkers!
Now I'm not suggesting these people are anything more than a minority, and I've never encountered anyone like them when I've been in Florida, but it's worrying that people like this are free to walk the streets.

Given the Klan are an extreme right wing organisation they are not likely to endorse a democrat.

I'm sure Mitt Romney would have been an equally favourable choice.

I don't suppose being pro Europe and all you are too bothered about his lurid behaviour with women? Sex scandals boost candidates in Europe don't they?

Mitt Romney with his Mormon underwear being endorsed by grown men wearing gowns and burning crosses.... you may well be right.

As you say, they don't like democrats because they let gays marry and allow interracial marriage, which, according to them, is against god's teaching through the Bible.

Which sex scandals? French presidents wouldn't be real if they didn't have a mistress. Kohl had a secret affair whilst he was married, Schröder has had at least 4 wives, but I haven't heard of a Merkel sex scandal.

Sex and scandal seem to fit in with Trump's preferred image and seem not to bother his supporters.

I think Trump is a cxxt for the record and a bigger liar than Farage and Johnson together.

Well there may well now be a Trump Boom instigated by infrastructure building and big housing projects.

Something he and his family got rich on.

Let's see where we are in 2 years...

Some of the interviews that have been on with Trump supporters at his events have been pretty eye opening. I mean most people understand once you move away from either coast and into middle America you encounter a different attitude but some of the stuff people were coming out with was unbelievable.

Didn't he win Pensilvania? How does that work with that theory?

Exactly and that is what they have been promised. It is easy to make promises when you have no idea about politics, budgets and burocracy. Trump knows how to manipulate politicians- he was in effect a lobbyist for himself in New York. Now he has the responsibility for over 300 million people. Different story. I expect a boom followed quickly by a crash and quick exit ( as in Atlantic City ).

From what I understand from watching the coverage, Clinton won Philadelphia but Trump picked up a lot of rural votes in Pennsylvania in areas with not traditionally high Republican turn out.
Again, I'm not suggesting all these people are right wing, gun toting fundamentalists.
Trump had a phrase for disenfranchised voters he was trying to attract, I've tried googling it but can't find it.

You can't leave people behind, you can't import everything from Low wage economies and dump all your manufacturers on the scrap heap. People are what they are, not everyone has the upbringing, family support, strong character, intelligence, support with further education or confidence to succeed in the demanding world as it is. There used to be more jobs in the US and UK to cater for folk who didn't mind getting their hands dirty and sitting at a machine ! We need to get some of those jobs back and create a society that will pay more for a locally produced product, whatever it may be and stop throwing stuff away on a whim. We can't all work in IT, banking, medicine, science,, law and other tech industries.
Brexit and Trump have reached out to those disenfranchised folk, lets hope both can deliver better times for all it's citizens.

see this is the weird thing, I agree with a lot of the above but I disagree with so much of the other stuff you post.
We probably want the same thing, we just disagree with how to achieve it.
And I disagree about Trump. A man that has bankrupt 6 companies leaving a string of small businesses among his creditors probably isn't bothered about delivering to all citizens or too worried about the little man suffering financial hardship. Though I have doubts that Clinton would have delivered either.

I guess all the left wing liberals on here must be glad we have a monarchy as a constitution and this could never happen here.

I didn't think there were many left wing liberals on here. Just some who are not fans of Farage, Johnson, Trump and co.. maybe they appear left and liberal in comparison to some of the brexiters.

We actually have a constitutional monarchy who have to knock on the door to be allowed into Parliament. Parliament is sovereign and we have laws against hate speech which make populism more difficult. In the USA you can hate and lie and still be protected by free speech laws.

Our strange democracy keeps the populist nuts at bay as they seldom get a direct majority. Farage is a case in point.

Bit of a contradiction anyway.

Never understood why the two were put together. Sure, there's a branch of social liberalism, but 'trad' liberalism is more to the right than half of the current tories!

Lazy throwaway line that means little.

"Nigel Farage has called US President Barack Obama a “loathsome creature” who hates Britain."

Said over a gentleman of a president.

A bit strange coming from one of the most loathsome British politicians in my time.

Saw that, people going mad that it's racist.

I just thought it was ironic, make them have a scrap.

It's where Trump has an advantage.

They had people on afterwards, saying Trump had promised to restore their industry etc. Well, atm he's got zero failure on his record, hasn't he, so he can make all the promises he likes and nobody calls him on them.

He'd better live up to the good half of his promises, otherwise there'll be yet more division...
Zero failure? You sure?

I didn't know about his record , but on 5Live yesterday some bloke was on there saying Donald Trump is the only person he has ever known that has run a failed casino.

Basically built his own casino and it failed.

Just going on what he said.
