it sounds like he's mobilised a section of society that don't usually vote so they probably don't realise that politicians don't actually carry out their promises.
The fact that many of them are armed to the teeth is what's worrying.

well he won Florida despite a big Hispanic turn out for Clinton so he mobilised an unaccounted for vote from somewhere.
There was a C4 show from a gun show if Florida and the people they were interviewing were bonkers!
Now I'm not suggesting these people are anything more than a minority, and I've never encountered anyone like them when I've been in Florida, but it's worrying that people like this are free to walk the streets.

Which sex scandals? French presidents wouldn't be real if they didn't have a mistress. Kohl had a secret affair whilst he was married, Schröder has had at least 4 wives, but I haven't heard of a Merkel sex scandal.

Sex and scandal seem to fit in with Trump's preferred image and seem not to bother his supporters.

I think Trump is a cxxt for the record and a bigger liar than Farage and Johnson together.

Well there may well now be a Trump Boom instigated by infrastructure building and big housing projects.

Some of the interviews that have been on with Trump supporters at his events have been pretty eye opening. I mean most people understand once you move away from either coast and into middle America you encounter a different attitude but some of the stuff people were coming out with was unbelievable.

Exactly and that is what they have been promised. It is easy to make promises when you have no idea about politics, budgets and burocracy. Trump knows how to manipulate politicians- he was in effect a lobbyist for himself in New York. Now he has the responsibility for over 300 million people. Different story. I expect a boom followed quickly by a crash and quick exit ( as in Atlantic City ).

From what I understand from watching the coverage, Clinton won Philadelphia but Trump picked up a lot of rural votes in Pennsylvania in areas with not traditionally high Republican turn out.
Again, I'm not suggesting all these people are right wing, gun toting fundamentalists.

You can't leave people behind, you can't import everything from Low wage economies and dump all your manufacturers on the scrap heap. People are what they are, not everyone has the upbringing, family support, strong character, intelligence, support with further education or confidence to succeed in the demanding world as it is. There used to be more jobs in the US and UK to cater for folk who didn't mind getting their hands dirty and sitting at a machine ! We need to get some of those jobs back and create a society that will pay more for a locally produced product, whatever it may be and stop throwing stuff away on a whim. We can't all work in IT, banking, medicine, science,, law and other tech industries.
Brexit and Trump have reached out to those disenfranchised folk, lets hope both can deliver better times for all it's citizens.

see this is the weird thing, I agree with a lot of the above but I disagree with so much of the other stuff you post.
We probably want the same thing, we just disagree with how to achieve it.
And I disagree about Trump. A man that has bankrupt 6 companies leaving a string of small businesses among his creditors probably isn't bothered about delivering to all citizens or too worried about the little man suffering financial hardship. Though I have doubts that Clinton would have delivered either.

I didn't think there were many left wing liberals on here. Just some who are not fans of Farage, Johnson, Trump and co.. maybe they appear left and liberal in comparison to some of the brexiters.

We actually have a constitutional monarchy who have to knock on the door to be allowed into Parliament. Parliament is sovereign and we have laws against hate speech which make populism more difficult. In the USA you can hate and lie and still be protected by free speech laws.

Our strange democracy keeps the populist nuts at bay as they seldom get a direct majority. Farage is a case in point.

I didn't know about his record , but on 5Live yesterday some bloke was on there saying Donald Trump is the only person he has ever known that has run a failed casino.

Basically built his own casino and it failed.
