Just go on the telegraph comments - £22 for a ticket? NOPM!!!!

It’s just people who wouldn’t have an intention of going up complaining about the price

I think so many people had it in their heads it would be a special pricing offer already that's why they get upset. They were imagining a complete sellout on a tenner a ticket and a replay of Wembley.

You have said yourself the fact it is £22 has made your mind up as you were on the fence, for the sake of a couple of quid surely you weren't that keen on going anyway?

Of course if it was a tenner it would be a bonus, I'd save myself a tenner or so but then there's also the understanding of that the ground probably wouldn't fill up even for a tenner like people seem to think because it was Stoke.

Probably many people did think it would be a special price, but I think that was a reasonable theory to have. The price goes hand in hand with what kind of experience it is going to be. If it's going to be a bumper crowd I think that's also an encouragement to go too.

I was very sincere about going, and I did say at the time I had my own game that day so I would need to be extra tempted in order to sack that off. £22 doesn't do that for me sadly. A few years ago yes, but not now.

A tenner might not have filled the Ricoh, but I would like to think there would have been 20k there. When was the last time we had crowds like that? You tend to think the prices are fair, and I don't always disagree with that. I just think as a club we are losing fans by the thousands, and the prices do need to be pretty special in order to get many of those people to come back. Those people, or many of them were no doubt once very loyal supporters.

Why is it a reasonable theory though? That's what I don't get.

It's a bit of an issue with things like social media etc as things like that spread like wildfire to the point that expect it to be a lower price and get angry when it's not.

I don't think there's a massive issue with CCFC pricing in particular, it's a massive chunk of our revenue. I do think it's a bigger issue with English football as a whole though to allow clubs like us to rely so much on it while the Premier League could do without ticket revenue tomorrow and players earning multiple times what we turn over.

you reduce prices for games where you need to entice fans

why would you reduce prices for one of the biggest games of the season?

i just hope its not sold out by the 18th

I'm going, my only hope is that they play Shaqiri as he's such a weird looking man I want to see him in person. All torso no legs like Adam Armstrong's Eastern European cousin.

£22 is a bit pricey. The club should have gone for around £18 and people would no have batted an eye lid. Evan £20 would have looked good.

for example

Norwich vs Chelsea is £15 per adult, £10 for over-65s, £10 for under-21s and £5 for under-18s

Also its £25 to play on the gate whats crazy !

It's pretty pointless comparing to Norwich and the other with Liverpool though isn't it? Both of those games are actually live on TV as well.

Exeter Away is £22 as well.

Yes but they are not a fourth division club, we are you do not get any lower than us in the EFL.

but we know league games are expensive. Cup games tend to be cheaper. It would have been a good way to get bums on seats and try and regrow crowd numbers.

Realistically, how many more would have gone if it was £18 not £22?

1st and 2nd round are cheap because its 1st and 2nd round!

3rd round is showpiece of english season. should never have expected cheap tickets

No idea. Personally as I don't work in tickets. But £18 looks a lot more attractive then £22. If anything they could have froze the price increase so its £22 no matter when you buy. Rather then £24 on the day or £25 on gate

At the end of the day the club needs to try and rebuild some trust with fans and grow fan numbers.

Very true, they've already received a nice fee for being televised. So it's only natural to relax prices to get fans into the stadium and enhance the pay day

I don't see a huge issue with the price, only a flat £20 may of been nice all round.
Or season ticket holders or previous match package holders this season pay £20 maybe as a token gesture for our support in L2.

I can see why they may of struck this price with stoke as at £22.... say for example to keep it simple with no deductions we sold 10,000 tickets at £22 each that's £220,000 with £99,000 to each club and £22,000 to the FA. We'd need a extra 4,666 fans to match that figure at £15.

15,000 fans at £22 is £330,000 £148,500 each, you'd need a extra 7,000 at £15 each. So 22,000 instead of 15,000

Where as if you sold 30,000 at £15 each that's £450,000 split so £202,500 each where you only need 20,454 fans to pull the same. 20,454 instead of 30,000 fans in a already lost fan base where prize money, sponsorships and ticket income is its bread and butter.

Saw him live playing for Switzerland against Poland at the Euros in France. Looked overweight, lazy and just walked around for 80 minutes for which I spent the whole game slagging him off. And then he went and scored that crazy overhead kick from the edge of the area.... :D

But it's likely your trying to engage with fans that won't be back for the home game v Swindon as they don't agree with the league prices anyway.

One thing they could have done is try and sell some half STs off the back of it, but as it's Stoke it wouldn't be as attractive as "Buy a half ST to guarantee your Arsenal ticket for £10 today!!"

It would be, "guarantee your stoke ticket by buying a half season ticket"

Isn't it on net tickets, so have to take off costs for stadium, stewarding, police etc etc as well?

Maybe they could have done buy a ticket to FA cup and get cheaper ticket to Swindon ? To try and get some recurring revenue

I sort of get the price sensitivity for low income or families. I just don't see fans coming back in droves even if it was five pounds.

Yes I think so, was just some loose figures to compare the attendance to money taken.

The previous 2 rounds we got 50% of the revenue, I wonder if it actually cost money to play the games at home as opposed to taking money.

*****The net gate receipts due from a match (except replayed matches in consequence of a breach of the Rules) shall be the total ticket sales for the match less VAT, the travelling (and possibly accommodation) expenses of the Visiting Club, the fees and expenses of the Match Officials, and other match expenses allowed under the Competition Rules (which include costs relating to gate attendants, turnstile operators, stewards, police charges, floodlighting in accordance with the Competition Rules, contributions to the costs of First Aid Helpers and any costs relating to clearing the ground of snow and water provided the Visiting Club is consulted beforehand on the approximate costs). Any shortfalls in receipts are the responsibility of the home club and are not to be shared. The Professional Game Board shall have the power from time to time to issue instructions as to what shall and shall not be allowed as a match expense.

Yes possibly but the general feeling seems football is becoming too pricey for the average family because the top end is too money driven and it's filtering down the leagues as clubs try and compete.

What becomes a acceptable price for the average adult ticket for this level. Each club has its own issues to try and compete and remain inside the SCMP rules also

It’s great trying to engage more fans and everything but we’re fucking broke. This game could be the difference between us signing a player or not, selling a player or not. If people want to come out of the woodwork because they’re too good for league 2 football but want to watch us play a premier league team why should the club expect a reduction in revenue because of it.

Yes I would have paid it, I will pay £23.00 for this game also, doesn't mean it is right.
Just after Xmas aswell aren't people struggling as it is?

Then people will moan that not enough turned up arh well what will be will be.......
Can see attendance at about 10,000 so will generate less money for city then a league game.
PUSB

So if people are struggling are you saying Stoke fans will not pay it?

Id be interested to see the difference if tickets were £20. Although it's only £2 it's a big psychological difference. Adults 20, concession 10 and kids 5. I think the crowd would rise enough to justify to £2 drop.

Not if Stoke sell out their allocation

I don’t understand all the moaning about prices. They are the same as league game, and in theory with it being the biggest draw for casuals, they could have upped the prices knowing at least 6k would attend.

I appreciate it isnt black and white, but ultimately if you support your team, you support your team. Whether that’s Wembley, Stoke or Forest Green at £10 or £22.

We all know SISU are shit, but they can’t be blamed for everything.
