It's funny that the eurosceptics go on about the spirit of Thatcher...oh...

Thatcher aide dismisses blue passports as a ‘nostalgic’ Brexit stunt

Yes, just saw that. How many people never had a blue passport or can even remember not being in the EU? This is for older people, the section that voted most to leave. Young people are not regaining anything as they never had a blue passport. The new blue passports come with less rights than the ones they are replacing. Normal people should be complaining about the downgrade, but what is normal about jettisoning from a wealthy trading bloc? The whole thing is a joke. Europe is rolling in the aisles laughing. Farage is not getting a knighthood... again. Haha. That some people even think that the traitor deserves anything for helping split the country and for praising the far right leaders in other countries is a disgrace

Just reading something about how valuable your passport is in terms of visa free and visa on arrival travel. Opinions vary but currently a British passport is widely ranked third in the world. Of course currently it’s also an EU passport as well as a British passport. Be interesting to see how the value of a British passport changes post brexit.

(Edit) although according to this article it’s eighth Revealed: The world's most powerful passports for 2017

I’ve akways said to you that Thatcher was a typical europhile despite her public persona. She’d have loved the way Brussels is now shaping itself.

Guess you’d have voted for her in the 80’s against a socialist Labour Party intent on leaving the EU.

Guess that means you’d now class yourself as a socialist and will be voting Corbyn next time around.

It will be the same Tony

I prefer Thatcher any day to the Farage prat:

„Pro-Brexit politician Nigel Farage applauded the change of passport colour from burgundy to blue and called it a “brexmas present”.

Appearing on BBC News, Mr Farage said: “We are told we are going to get our passports back. It’s the first real tangible victory that we have had since that referendum and it’s something that we should celebrate.”

The Brexiteer said the change was a major step forward but warned there is an “awful lot more to do”.

He said: “We really do need a Government with some courage and with some vision. At the moment that does appear to be sadly lacking.” „

Like her or hate her, Thatcher would never sink to lying, dribbling depths of Farage. Do you think Thatcher would have been on a stage with Roy Moore, Bannon or holding a speech for Hitler‘s cabinet member‘s granddaughter‘s far right Party in Berlin?

The deceit of Farage is on a par with that of Trump - his golden lift buddy.

I wouldn't have voted for either of them!!

I wasn’t worried to be honest just found it interesting. But now you’ve said it will stay the same I’m becoming concerned. With your track record there’s every chance we’ll drop down the rankings.

It'll only remain the same if EU citizens are not restricted in any way.

This is why I ignore you tony. Your attempts at put down and humour are as bad as a very poor panto.

I had a look at your pitiful attempts at understanding Mr Trench and his put downs - it was car crash reading.

This is typical of Ferages subterfuge. If he truly wanted to be an effective politician he would have been raising the fact that we never had to let go the blue passport and it could return at any point over the last 30 years, if he was really concerned about jobs in the UK’s fishery industry he could have attended some of the debates about EU fishing quotas and policies and actively done something about it or at least tried.

Which they won’t be.

Again, is this not going to cause major issues with illegal workers? How would you know who is here legally and illegally? A database? ID cards? ;)

I look forward to hearing your solution on this, I'm sure you won't attempt to dodge the question and will have a non-intrusive solution.

I wasn’t trying to be humorous. Although the ratio of your predictions of what will happen and the “success” rate of your predictions coming to fruition is amusing.

TBF I was more thinking of how many of the visa free and visa on arrival arrangements that make up the value of a British passport will be lost as we enjoy them as members of the EU?

Which then begs the question will retention of visa free and visa on arrival arrangements be used against us as a bargaining chip in trade negotiations?

That's a good point, we will also most likely have to be more flexible about relaxing visa and immigration rules for those countries as well. I believe that India have already hinted at this.

Unlike you I don’t dodge - you seemed to run away from your claim regarding labour voters pretty quickly.

You can actually have a 90 day visa completion on line or in travel for many countries and in my experience makes little if any delays at passport control

So how would you control people working here legally or illegally without visas?

Exactly. It’s currently a lot easier to get into India with a UK/EU passport than it is to get into the U.K. with an Indian passport. For instance my boss has a business associate in India and when he comes to visit our office my boss has to do a stamped and signed letter of invitation for his visa application. As far as I know my boss has never had to do this to go and see him. He just does a visa application on line and it starts when they stamp his passport on entry. Will this remain the same? As you say India has already hinted at changes in return for a trade deal.

Seems as though the only ones on here who are obsessed with the blue passports are you, Sick Boy and Clint. I stopped counting at 60 of your frothing-at-the-mouth posts compared to about 5 thumbs-up posts from kingokings.

Calm down mart, it’s only a passport.

Merry Christmas.

It has made my Christmas very Merry reading the Brexit Press and Farage. No frothing here, just side splitting ;-).

Merry Christmas to you too.

That has nothing do with Eu passports so I’m not sure why you raise it. The rules as you’ve insisted allow for deportation of Eu migrants anyway who don’t work here. You get woke at 7.00 am by the police don’t you?
