The thing is Tony he wouldn’t be part of the Eu for the same “reason” either. Still it’s nice to see you value his protectionism above Mr Obama’s more liberal view on free trade.

You still haven’t answered the question. If you don’t know the answer that’s fine. I can explain it to you if you want.

I’ve already told you. Look at Obama’s motive for joining/creating the TPP. You’re absolutely clueless on anything regarding the TPP.
I am only clueless because either you don't understand it or are pissed off that countries want trade deals with us. Especially as one of your favourite lines has always been it will take many years to sort out anything.

But yeah countries all over the world want to have trade deals with us. We are getting invited to have talks. And it pissed you off each time you are proved wrong.

He would only want a trade deal if he has full say on what tariffs are charged and have the right to change them as he wants.

But Tony knows better.

That’s exactly why he pulled out the trade deal you’re pissing yourself with excitement over. He can’t control the migration of US jobs to Vietnam without tariffs.

Is that 100% correct?

Can feel a new twist to the Selmayr debacle coming soon.

Well, I said there would be the ombudsman, then there is a period when the parties concerned have to study the ombudsman‘s recommendations. So, maybe there will be something. There was a rumour about him applying to be EU ambassador in London, which would take the heat off him.

Here is a nice blog, written in non rabid terms explaining the damage caused by the appointment:

I’ll tell you what. Let’s start with a blank piece of paper. What will the benefit be of joining the TPP for the U.K.? Should be a simple enough question to answer.

Again? No thanks. I’m done repeating myself to you. Just read back. I haven’t changed my view.
A view that doesn't make sense to anyone but you.

You are miles out of your depth. Your only line left is insults.

So what is good for the EU is bad for the UK?

And the EU is suddenly going to make trade deals they have been trying to make for many years?

Then you wonder why we get invited to join and try and make out it isn't good for the UK.

OK carry on with your fantasy.

Still a mile off another bung and being able to decide who joins the EU in working positions.

Trade deals with countries the EU would love trade deals with.

Based on what? The EU only seems to want trade deals with Japan, Australia and Canada at this moment in time and have negotiated bespoke deals with Japan and Canada and are negotiating with Australia as individual entities. If they wanted anything more they’d be talking to the TPP not individual countries from within it.

But their own rules and regulations would stop them from joining.

Although rules and regulations don't count when they don't want them to.

So when are the trade deals with Japan and Australia happening then?

You mean the EU civil service? Don’t get the bit about another bung.
So you did know about it all along like I said I thought you did.

So yes more rules and regulations ignored. Those involved in looking into the Selmayr fiasco not only keep their money for 3 years after leaving but cam put forward friends and family to get jobs bypassing the proper selection process and hard work that goes into it. Strange how it all happened at the same time as the investigations

Yes, I mentioned it in one of the hundreds of posts on the subject. As I keep saying, it was a sham, scam and annoying.

Just checking and the EU already has a comprehensive FTA with Chile signed in 2003. Trade agreement with Singapore signed in 2010. Trade agreement with Malaysia signed in 2010. Trade agreement signed with Vietnam in 2012 new agreement in discussions now. Trade negotiations with New Zealand started this year. Comprehensive free trade agreement with Mexico in negotiations as we speak with many details agreed in April of this year. Comprehensive FTA with Peru signed in 2010.

Have I missed anyone?

Looks like these “countries that the EU would love to deals with” is old news. Japan, Canada and Australia seems to be the last of them. And they’re all tailored to suit not the of the peg reject we’ve been offered. This invite to join the TPP seems more and more insulting everytime you look at it in detail.

So I’ll ask again. What benefit is there in joining the TPP for the U.K.? You’re first answer seems redundant so you need another one. At least.

No.

How about the link?

More rules and regulations not followed to give jobs to friends and family to those who had the job of looking into the Selmayr fiasco.

They don’t need to join. They have the power to negotiate individually. The offer to join the TPP actually says we don’t. I don’t see why you’re not insulted by this offer when the EU gets treated with so much respect that they’re willing to talk trade deals with them as individual entities.

You have to laugh when certain posters champion themselves as working class Labour voters and are anti EU due to neoliberalism and then cite TPP as a major positive of Brexit.
TPP a major positive?

A positive is seeing that countries are inviting us to trade deal talks.

Shall we say about certain posters who have a go at anything that could be good for the UK?

Deals that are good for the EU but bad for the UK?

I hope the EU does well after we leave. I don't have an axe to grind. It isn't the fault of the people of the EU countries on the way the EU is run.

Whereas some on here seem to be hoping that the UK only does One thing after leaving. Crash and burn. This TPP thing seems to prove it.

It’s not trade deal talks. It’s an invitation to join a deal that’s already been done. Are you really not getting this.

Spent five minutes looking and there’s literally no member of the TPP that the EU doesn’t have a trade deal with. From what I can see no member of TPP is on WTO with the EU and some have quite comprehensive FTA with the EU. Bit of an own goal from astute.
Trade deal yes. But better is available.

The one thing you love to ignore is that single trade deals are much easier than making good deals when there are 28....soon to be 27 countries that want to defend something.

It isn't all signed and started.

But it isn't the start that you wanted us to get. You was hoping it would take us years to get anywhere. And you are pissed off that countries want trade deals with us.

I’ll try again. Why will joining the TPP be positive for the U.K.?

Just so you know your first reason crashed and burned following five minutes on google.

Given you thought that the TPP was full of countries that the EU would love to deal with and it turns out that they are already then there doesn’t seem to be an issue with making a deal with the EU.

We also wouldn’t be making a single trade deal. We would be joining a trading block. There is no deal it’s no different than joining the EU. The terms are the terms. Not nearly the same thing. You’re inability to understand that is nothing short of staggering.

Perhaps you can - like you explained why Britain left the ERM when interest rates were 7% or know details of Geoffrey Howes resignation speech or indeed have detailed knowledge of JFK

Then again wiki man - maybe you can’t

Have said a few times.

So why would it be negative?

As I said just being invited to join is a positive.

And none of us know the details. So only an idiot would say it is good or bad.

Good to see you are saying it is only bad.

How many billions a year would it cost us to join?

How many millions of residents from them countries will be allowed to come and live here?

You’re damn straight it isn’t the deal I want us to get. I want better. What’s on offer is a gazillion times worse than joining the single market. Joining the single market would be infinitely better for the U.K. It’s an insult but you’re clambering all over it through ignorance.

All you’ve said is that the EU would love to do deals with the countries in it. I looked, they have. Australia is the only one that hasn’t reached an agreement with the EU and that’s in discussion, when I say discussion I don’t mean the Australian PM has made a comment in an interview with a newspaper to the effect that they’d like to do a deal. I mean actual discussions and negotiations. You’re answer crashed and burned because it was a flippant comment with no understanding behind it. Five minutes on google would have prevented you from making that claim.

As opposed to leaving the single market to join another trading block that actually might be a hindrance to the U.K. economy than a benefit? How are you going to measure these millions exactly?

Ha ha. And as for residents from those countries have you ever been to London. You can’t move for Aussies and New Zealander’s. Vietnamese won’t need to come here, we’ll send the jobs to them.
