Americans spend 25th December celebrating the biggest hippie in history then a week later try and start a massive war in his name.

The guy was eliminated because he was planning imminent attacks against the US.
It was pro-active self-defence.
It's what should have been done to Bin Laden years before it was.

I didn’t say war but I want us to turn off the weapons tap for a state that has more in common with ISIS than anywhere else
So it goes back to weapons manufacturers. West turns off arms to Saudis (Germans have, UK halved supply so Americans picked up the slack) and the Russians and Chinese turns off arms sales to Iran? Iran responded to sanctions by manufacturing their own. Saudis would do the same for whatever Russia and China wouldn't sell them.
Iran has a fair bit in common with ISIS. When the regime took over massacred around 30000 "opponents" in a short period.
Do we just let them all get on with it? Let's be honest if it weren't for the oil nation States probably would. None of them care about the ongoing crises in the likes of Eritrea, DRC etc

All I'm saying is let's at least make it harder for them and in the process not to make us complicit in blatant atrocities. Would rather we go in with quick wins against Boko Haram in Nigeria if we are to go in anywhere at all-think the government there is begging for support

Have Iran ever attacked the USA?
They are far too clever for that but they do plan, aid and finance attacks on US interests via other terrorist organizations.
You should realize US intelligence has the capability to intercept virtually 100% of world-wide communications and they must know things none of us know.

To be fair they did spend over a decade hunting for Bin Laden

What's going to happen?

America will flatten Iran if they do anything to threaten Homeland security and they know that.

Bollocks all will happen.
Militarily, America will fuck up everything they set out to do . History shows it.

Years before it was the US that was funding, training and arming Bin Laden. This is what the US does, create monsters and then fall out with them.

Is it enforceable?
Catch 22. Can they hold out against Iranian control without a foreign buffer - something some Iraqi shias fear as well ?
Can they placate the sizeable minority sunnis with their own militias?
All sunni and kurdish mps boycotted the vote despite being ordered by Shia militia to attend. Still a caretaker govt. Would us troops leave next week - no.
A Year is a long time in Iraqi politics so who knows what the mood would be then. Also a large Iranian response to US would probably worry Iraqis and see a changing position.

People should read up on the history of Vietnam and Afghanistan from when the US first intervened in both countries. Vietnam, Cambodia, Iran, Iraq. History repeating and largely for the same reasons. The US got involved in Afghanistan when it was under Soviet rule arming, funding and training the likes of Bin Laden to fight the Soviets much in the same way as the Soviets did in Asia to fight the yanks. It was an official US policy to give the Soviet Union it’s Vietnam, read up on operation cyclone. The yanks have never learned the lessons of Vietnam and now a draft dodger is making all the same mistakes.

rockets launched at US embassy in Baghdad. Hopefully it's just a bit of posturing and doesn't escalate.

but again my question is why don't they hit back against the Sunni sponsors with the same aggression?
They did nothing to the Saudis after 9/11, what is the game here?
simple. No direct link with official Saudi Govt & 9/11. Report found minor officials could have been involved in an unofficial capacity.
Private individuals/organisations from the Gulf states funding sunni terrorism. Saudis have joined FATF (only Arab nation to do so) to stop money laundering and terrorist funding.
Govts like Kuwait, UAE do little to stop terrorist fund raising within their own borders.
Iran has direct state funding of organisations like Hezbollah.
Counter argument is that the Saudis do fund Wahhabism (the extreme Sunni sect) from which many Sunni terrorists have come from.

no direct link with Iraq or Afghanistan either but they invaded both countries on the back of it.
In the 9/11 museum in New York right at the end there's a small display explaining why the attacks happened, it's absolute bullshit, it doesn't even mention that 15 of the attackers were Saudis.
We have been allowing the Saudis to spread Wahhabism all the way in to Europe since the 50s. I appreciate this was done initially in return for oil but why has it been allowed to continue? There is incredible inconsistency.

The New York Times reporter that covers the area isn't convinced

Also numerous people point out that in the past when action has been taken because of intelligence suggesting an imminent threat supporting information has been presented by the White House and allies provided confirmation of the existence of the intelligence acted upon.

Iran wants to put an 80 million dollar bounty on Trump. Bin laden bounty was 25 million.

I love that USA just say we executed the member of another country’s government to keep the peace. Irrespective of international law

Let’s suppose Iran carried out a strike to take out a leading American general. The tanks would be in Tehran tomorrow.

This is what happens when you call yourselves the good guys by default when time and again the American military has covered itself with shame.

And it would also be labelled as terrorism and there would be outrage about his threats of war crimes.
He is currently the biggest danger that world faces.
