I have no doubt that some individuals will benefit financially from it all. Far from all of them.

I however think this latest thing is down to distraction from their own nonsense.

I'm sure Matt Hancock and the other MPs just did their dodgy deals out of the kindness of their heart though.

Mate, again, I reckon I can beat you easily in a who hates the Boris the most competition. :)

Are you saying though that this is all about the government and the scientists are in on this political conspiracy too?

If so, without wanting to get into a(nother) row, there are plenty of other places also concerned about this new variant. How does that stack up, are they all wrong?

Again, who has said it's all a massive conspiracy? I'm by no means saying it's made up and people want to put Microships in us.

It's not a conspiracy to point out who particular people (the media, doom mongers, MPs with fingers in pies) benefit from the bad news and get your vaccine now.

Again, if somebody had said Matt Hancock's buddy was involved with a random PPE contract awarded it would have been "a conspiracy".

Christ, you get labelled as "conspiracy" for pointing out that it was said somebody died WITH this variant and not FROM it.

Chise is a very good follow. Has no politics, Just a shite ton of data and knowledge.
My inital response, btw, was that not having a Doctorate can indeed be a valid reason to shut people down. I, for example, have a doctorate, but you should be afraid, very afraid, if I'm ever in a position to advise government on medical policy and strategy(!)

In this instance, however, working for Moderna changes things somewhat, as does having a hand in developing their vaccine...

As ever, it's consensus that's the main thing to look for however. In this instance, serendipity says they back up what I said earlier about there still being a certain protection against serious disease after two jabs so, in that respect, they're very wise indeed... ;)

Right. But he seems to be arguing in favour of vaccination here, or have I misunderstood?

Mostly the complaint I hear is that the science against vaccination is somehow being suppressed, but when you dig into that there isn't much evidence. This looks more like a spat than some sort of conspiracy. Or am I missing something?

People were also being called conspiracy theorists for suggesting a long time ago they'd have covid passes etc and would treat unvaccinated differently ... way before it began to happen.

Not arsed anyway , il get my jab so I can carry on as normal until the next one atleast

I'm gradually tiring of the whole thing tbh

No mate, what I'm saying is that it isn't helpful to suggest that it's all some kind of myth driven by the media and government.

That just gives oxygen to the lunatics spouting the anti-vax rubbish, and the selfish who can justify all of their other crap behaviour.

That seemed to be where you were going with this, which seemed odd.

However pure the government's motives were in their timing, would anyone dispute that we'd all benefit from more people getting vaccinated and maybe being a bit more careful?

I have never said it's a myth either.

I pointed out earlier that the media were spinning things and showed exactly how they were. Now look exactly how it is being pushed. It is scare mongering.

Let's not pretend the media don't spin, exaggerate and spread fear for their own gain.

They certainly want to sell papers and get clicks, but then if there's a substantial proportion of the population resistant to vaccination and/or masks in the face of all of the evidence, then maybe a little fear isn't misplaced.

Is that scare-mongering, I don't know.

I honestly get more worried by people on this thread than I do media reports!

Maybe we can test people who die with an STD to get people to force people to use condoms?

Of course it's scare mongering. It is straight up misinformation.

Bit strange
Not really, the thread's getting populated with stupid, paranoid loons who show no consideration for other people. You, meanwhile, are on a black and white crusade and will continue to wilfully misinterpret. It's pointless responding to you because you'll bang on and on and on until you've worn me down, so this is it.

It isn't me misinterpreting though? You took something that said somebody died with Omicron and turned that into proof of how dangerous it is without anything to actually say it caused them to die.

I think the constant desperation to be scared is wearing you down more than anything.

As I said, it looks like it works both ways with extremes at either end of the scale. Some won't be leaving the house and others will be spitting into each others mouths on Tiktok to show how COVID isn't a thing.

No I didn't you fucking idiot.

c**t.

Erm, you quite clearly did. You posted it with a quote in bold to try and prove a point.

You seem fine with throwing insults around and telling everybody they are paranoid, crazy or stupid.

Shouting Conspiracy for pointing out the wording designed to mislead... Which it has done.

Do you know, you prove my point entirely.

Where did I say everybody? I'll even namecheeck, jordan is quite clearly dubious, but has presented things in a thoroughly decent manner, no whining, asking questions, listening to resonses and, I'd like to think we've met in a middle ground somewhere. Others, however... are downright dangerous.

But let's bang on and on and on until you can prove yourself right by wearing other people down.

I don't need to wear you down? You do that yourself.

It's there in the thread, you are the one misinterpreting things, you seem as paranoid as Baldy but just at the opposite end of things. You seem to be OK throwing insults around at people but will have to get ROS / COV or whoever he is this week to jump on the thread for you.

You haven't disproved what I have said about the misleading article / media spin have you?

UK Health Security Agency has said there's 10 people in hospital with the variant. Aged between 18 and 85 and they are spread around the country, "diagnosed with Omicron on or before admission". Most were double jabbed.
Hospitalisations always lag a few weeks behind infections, therefore it isn't surprising that we have started to see people being admitted to hospital with the Omicron variant. Our data shows that getting the booster vaccine is more effective against this variant than two doses alone. Everyone over 18 is now able to walk into a vaccination centre so do not hesitate to get yours.

It doesn't actually say that they have gone to hospital because of Omicron though.

That's the stat they should be announcing. Have all 10 gone in with severe breathing difficulties because of it or something unrelated but tested positive for it?

Are there many differences to here?

I think we are a few steps ahead of the UK, which is why it has been pretty easy to predict what will unravel in the UK.

Everything here closes at 5pm now, so restaurants and bars are effectively useless. The whole of Amsterdam is like a ghost town. There is even a light festival at the moment which is amazing, but due to the closing times, the tours take place in daylight which makes it all a bit of a joke really.
