That's not my argument. Persuading people to get jabbed isn't the NHS' responsibility, implementing the rollout is and they've done that part brilliantly.

This was never about 'it's fine they weren't vaxxed before', the hope I assume was always to persuade the remaining staff of the importance and safety of the jab compared to spreading Covid around a hospital. You work in that sector you've got a duty of care to your patients which with a new and even more infectious variant around is violated if you still don't want to accept increased immunity against it.

Call me a bad person if you want for thinking that

I think it's appalling , that's what I think

Is she taking care of dying patients in ICU atm?

Not in ICU mate , today she held the hand of a lady that died because her appendix burst 3 weeks ago and they couldn't do anything for her .. I'm not arsed about your situation

Which is fine, but accept that on the other side of this is a lot more than just wanting people fired. If you were in hospital with this variant around would you rather be treated by vaccinated or unvaccinated staff? Honestly?

And besides yourself, nobody has cared for a year .. these people have helped save thousands of lives already .. terrible decision , thankless job

Just avoiding the question which is at the heart of the issue. Got several friends who are doctors and who have no issue with this mandate

I would imagine the steps which have been sufficient from then to now would still be good enough for me to be treated by staff without even having to care what their vaccination status is ...

That's the truth ... this the honest answer , it's been good enough to now .. nothing has changed

What is in place now that prevents people being infected by unvaccinated staff ? That's the actual point

Well they haven't been robust enough up to this point if we're being honest.

I have work early , I think I've already several times over made my feelings known on this , I actually agree with Jeremy corbyn 🙈 this is probably going to be one of those things where in 20 years time , people look back , like they did when he was in charge of the opposition and say " he was right and nobody listened "

Dangerous precedent, slippery slope , will never be for it

The WHO’s Mike Ryan condemned countries offering boosters at a press conference “Right now we’re planning to hand out extra life jackets to people who already have life jackets while we’re leaving other people to drown without a single life jacket, that is the reality,” he said.

Just gonna leave this here.

To be fair, they can still get it.

Although I'm pretty sure they will be tested a lot more regularly than Joe public anyway.

Unless it's a PCR , it's all pointless though as we know already lateral flows are shite , from experience several times over , lateral flows are shite.. that's a different argument tbh .. it's their only option to work day to day I suppose

Because you need to give people a chance to get vaccinated.

Frankly if you’re going to choose Facebook memes over your actual job I don’t have much sympathy. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

A whole year ? OK then.

Don't agree with you either , but there we are.

PCR just depends how many cycles are done to amplify the viral DNA, which in itself doesn’t even confirm you’re infectious still. Viral culture is the ultimate proof but not viable on the scale we need

Health workers have always been required to vaccinate against illnesses that can harm their patients. Where were you before arguing against that? What’s so special about the Covid vaccine?

They’ve had a year to get a jab, numbers aren’t high enough so now a hard deadline is in with time to get fully vaxxed. Would you rather they just sacked people on the spot?

You’re making out like the gestapo are out holding down people while crazed Dr Mengele jabs experimental drugs in them. All that’s happening is a condition of employment is being brought in with a decent grace period to comply or find a new career.

...except I genuinely didn't. Unvaccinated the risk of bringing in a highly infectious and to vulnerable people deadly virus when there's been a jab available for a year is too high.

I don't want people to lose their livelihoods but I also don't want people losing their lives full stop. You tell me which is more important

But it doesn't. Even when vaccinated, it is still possible to spread the virus so it is just a bizarre point of view. The evidence that they don't or that it is lower is wishy washy and conflicting at best.

The argument against unvaccinated has now become almost exclusively 'they can be a strain on the NHS'. That's fucking ironic considering as the people we are talking about here are working in the NHS and making a positive contribution to it.

Arguments like this are another reason why skepticism towards the policies that are being implemented are growing.

The probability of infecting others is significantly and provably lower if you’re fully vaxxed. This isn’t really up for debate.

No one’s asking you to, just to justify your position. Who knows, you might convince me. I just genuinely don’t understand this, or the “three jabs is taking the piss” people.

Like I said , there's many on here , comfy working from home .. who profess to be the good guys ..

And they simply aren't

This pandemic has made it easy for some people to feel like hero's, when in reality those same people preaching from their soap boxes would be the first to go in a really dire international situation such as war or ebola outbreak.

It really is up for debate. For every article you post saying it lowers transmission 'significantly' there is one which points out the limitations of it.

You also now have a lot of people hiding behind their QR code and not taking precautions as much, testing as frequently, or being aware they have symptoms. Those three things will be undoing whatever level of reduction in transmission there is.

We are the most vaxxed we have ever been and even before this variant it is spreading like wildfire. That isn't just due to the non-vaxxed.

and yet I'm getting my booster on Christmas eve and don't give a shit if I have another 10 .

Which proves that despite what youshit tells us , there are many many people out there who are jabbed that thinks this whole thing is appalling.. there are millions who do not want to see NHS staff lose their jobs in march

30% of the population isn’t vaxxed at all and a lot of the transmission is in schools where for obvious reasons there is much less immunity built up. You can’t get 100% prevention of infection but you clearly get more, and not just a bit more either.

When you’re working with people whose general health is worse or compromised then that matters.

Had a year for people to get their vaccines, if they ain't done it by now they probably never will. Also think it's a disgrace that the NHS staff are being treated like this.

At this moment in time , they have 4 months to recruit potentially 73000 people ..

I'm guessing that won't happen , so basically the NHS is in for a huge shock

Goodnight

Or maybe Boris wants that to happen , so he can then say the NHS isnt for for purpose 👌 call me crazy
