I want to watch it but the "colourised" footage is putting me off-is there a lot of it? I always get bugged by having seen some of the footage before in B&W and imagined it looking totally different to them in colour, resulting in me shouting "they don't know!" and my partner telling me to calm down and be quiet.

I just think having seen it again that USA wouldn’t have dreamt of doing what they did to the Japanese to the Germans and it was probably down to them thinking of them as somehow subhuman. Even that dribbling converted leftie Matthew Paris oddly in an article in The Times yesterday said the nuclear bombs were necessary and ultimately justified by what came from the consequence. He was comparing it to Putin which I found a bit odd but I guess he was making a point about a future if Russia gets defeated

The argument - which I’m not even arguing myself here, nor do you have to agree with it - is that the atomic bombs forced a Japanese surrender, which prevented a much more deadly and protracted conflict.

As horrendous as the atomic bombings were, at least they were done for strategic military reasons, which can’t be said for the Holocaust. The only real strategy there was to eradicate a race of people.

China should be in court of more human rights violations that could in some cases be called genocide, but are far more likely in the future to be the ones having huge influence over the direction of 'human rights'.
