Thought Wigan looked better than bottom of the league, and their manager made attacking substitutions, they were a bit of a handful. The real issue, as Robins said earlier in the week, is that we don’t score enough goals. The possession we had for the first 30 minutes of the second half should have enabled us to score again and put the game beyond them. It did cry out for fresh legs up top.
Fresh legs up top, can fully agree with the sheaf sub, worked completely, but why not sub walker on, has he shagged MR's wife or something

We're not going to do that if we can't beat dross like Wigan, you can't just drop off like we did and the manager has got to recognise it much quicker. He as per a few occasions just watched it happen. We needed some impetus but just dropped back further and further.
Agreed - but any team that declares the season over while four points out with nine games to go is never going to get promoted out of this division, no matter what the manager does. If that’s the mindset then why should any of us bother?

We still had enough chances to win it.

Poor really. Poor tactics first half cost us.

If we started with the team most of recommended ie 2nd half. Then we would have won that.
I dont think our tactics cost us in the first half. Wigan came out of traps and unsettled us so much we never got chance to implement our tactics.

Sometimes it takes a 15 minute break in play to flip the tide - tactics, subs or not. On the pitch you might know what is wrong but with that amount of momentum leaks keep springing up all over the pitch. Whatever decision you make on the pitch it is wrong.

That is just how it is sometimes. But we did enough second half to have won it.

To get promoted you need that killer instinct even when you are holding a shit hand of cards. We didnt have that instinct.

Can we stop this 'we're only 4 points off' bollocks

We will be 7 off by tomorrow

Has any team overcame a 7 point gap to the play offs with 9 games to go and an inferior GD?

Its game over lads, lets just focus on being able to relax these last few games and plan for next season

Tactics meaning our formation/personell. was fucked. No midfield. Obvious

Unfortunately robins got it wrong from the start. Subs were needed and made a difference and we dominated that 2nd half, can’t help thinking that if we’d played that formation from the start we would have blew them away.

+3 against Blackpool Saturday and it’s still on. Up the fucking sky blues

Would also be nice if we could persist with the likes of Eccles and Burroughs and maybe give Howley another go for the rest of the campaign, because they could well be regulars next season.

Agreed. Perfect time to blood them properly.

Id like to see a different set up aswell towards the end of the season just to see how it works. A 4 2 3 1 or a diamond or something

As mentioned a few times by me, with weather conditions and after good showing by Wigan , I would have taken a draw. However 2nd half easily the better team snd definitely should have won. Should have brought fresh pair of legs on for Godden to close game out . Sadly a fluke goal. Still should have won game at the very end.
It was tough in 1st half for sure but we were vastly superior although Wigan tried the best they could.

Thought macfadzen was shite today.

Realistically the back 5 were all reasonable. One scruffy defected goal.

The forwards are, once again, the issue.

Definitely. If Robins & co believe they are serious long term prospects, this would really help them next year.

When Sheaf and O'Hare first came, the amount of games they played really excelled their progression.

Thought McGuire looked decent 1st half, and despite our dominating 2nd half we missed his link play. Need Allen and Palmer back by April. Think Robins needs to go back to 5 in midfield

Should’ve won but saying that Wigan were better side first half. Always been a fan of Godden but he was out on his feet last ten so why the fuck was Walker not given some minutes ?! Robins hasn’t got much wrong this season but that was bizarre and might’ve cost us all three points tonight

Robins says they won't get back until gone 1 as the roads "will be shut". Have they "taken the roads in" like in Father Ted?
