Mark McNulty, Doyle, Bigi etc are players that were never really good enough to get us to the premier league but in the league that we were in they played their part in helping move us up a rung of the ladder. For that reason they will be remembered for their influence in helping getting us to where we are now.
I'm not sure that O'Hare comes into that category. He's technically a better player than any player we had before we gained promotion to the championship but his contribution to our continued success wasn't enduring enough. He needed a other season and decided against it. For that reason, despite his rapport with singers' corner, he'll never be particularly remembered as someone who made any particular contribution to our promotion, should that happen..
I'm very enthused about our signing Rudoni, but I don't think there was room in the team for him and O'Hare, so the time appears to have been right for O'Hare to leave, given we hope to have signed a better and younger prospect. It's also a shame we couldn't of got a transfer fee for him, but its nevertheless ridiculous to downplay his part in our resurgence.
Not quite sure how Bigi warrants a mention, but however important Doyle and McNulty were in helping us out of League 2, O'Hare was important to not only lifting us from League 1, but then establishing us in the Championship. He was crucial to the high press game which then served us so well before his injury. If he had been available to us in the play off final, he would arguably also have made the difference in getting us over the line at that time.
I therefore think he will be recognised for that contribution in due course, and once the bruised feelings of some of our fans have dissipated, but its up to others to now take on that baton to get us promoted to the PL, and to take that glory with it.
