They have gone into multiple GEs pledging not to pay people properly and to maintain real terms funding cuts. How is that a vote winner?
I will try again.

Tax going up rarely mentioned. Tax reductions shouted from the rooftops. People don't like their wages being taken up with tax. Say something that looks like more tax will have to be raised and you lose votes.

As I said several times before more people think of their own situation more than that of others. Why is this so hard to understand?

Sorry but I didn't have a middle class uni education like you
Nor did I have a middle class uni education - but it's not difficult to understand the difference between 'their' and 'there' or 'you're and 'your'.

Love the big crowd of people going to walsgrave on Thursdays to stand by each other.

Next week: licking handrails for the NHS!

Has this been posted yet? Johnson in February pretty clearly stating the plan is to not lockdown and make profit when other countries are. Any of the “following the science” people want to take a crack at defending this?

At some point when it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, you’ve got to drop the hypothesis that maybe it’s a particularly well disguised chicken.

Care England saying up to 7500 deaths in care homes could be related to covid-19.

7500 people dead because the fucking tory party abandoned them.

Never forget never forgive

I'm not a part of that generation. My kids certainly are not.

Brexit? It has shafted me more than most. But you have to take it on the chin.

Jobs for life mainly disappeared many years ago. They went with manufacturing. But think about it. They had the thought of jobs for life but it didn't end that way.

All my older kids but one own their own home. I struggled for years. The so called boomers didn't have it easy like many seem to make out. Labour disaster in the 70's. I just about remember it as a kid. Mortgage interest rates of 15% or more. Grew up on the select council estates in Coventry.

But yes they have ended up with homes worth much more than they paid. This money will eventually be left to ther younger relatives. They don't see the benefit in them. Yes they had better pensions. We have Gordon Brown to thank for decimating final salary pensions.

I can't wait to leave the rat race. 2 years 362 days to go. We will have the equivalent of only one minimum wage coming in until we reach state pension age. But because we have never done luxuries we will be OK. Spend about 60k buying a house that needs a total renovation. Spend about a year doing it up. Then put my feet up. We will have fruit trees and grow vegetables. I will have my river bank to fish from with a man cave next to me. Wife drinks wine at about a quid a bottle. Quite nice too. My tinnies are also cheap. Invest in a Tesla when the older ones get cheaper. Look at generating my own power to charge it. Then I will have very cheap motoring.

My aims in life are low. Our carbon footprint will be low. But no more getting up at silly o'clock in the morning. No more staying up all night or working weekends and missing the football. £12 flights to Midlands airport for games. I will be able to grow old and die in peace.
What’s the nearest airport, Limoges?

All of this talk of work, we all know that the British are amongst some of the most idle in the world and prefer a lie in to hard work.

I think it’s got a lot to do with a good few generations having it as an option because of freedom of movement and people willing to come here with a different work ethic to take up the slack.

Nah it’s just down to being among the worst idlers in the world, working low hours and early retirement.

Fuuuuuuck me. This thread about the “ventilator challenge” is absolutely damning.

Key point:

Shouldn’t be surprised that Brexit fanboys have so little regard for knowledge and expertise, but still the fact that even in a pandemic they buy their own bullshit is downright scary.

These people shouldn’t be anywhere near government. Corbyn and co were dumb as rocks but as least respected those that weren’t. This is frankly dangerous.

What about those who don't/can't work? Do they not come I to the equation? Without private landlords many would be homeless.

We need more homes not less landlords.

I agree we need more homes. Not that we need more landlords.

If you can't/won't work that is what socially provided housing should be for. Private landlords tend to steer clear of the examples you give if at all possible,

What was wrong with the social housing model we had post war up until Thatcher?

Recently my findings are that a lot of the older generation seem to not give a shit about social distancing. Or they just forget about it like I do!

Because you're also pledging at the same time to deny large chunks of the electorate fair pay

He was talking about as a 16 year old he had no money and qualifications and achieved that and I asked is that something a vote for labour encourages.

you seem a bit slow?

Right here we go again. You really are terribly informed on literally every topic. It’s quite impressive, you’d think that even by law of averages you’d happen across an informed take on something.

Under Labour vocational education was far more highly valued, and adult and further education far better funded.

The number of kids leaving at 16 dropped dramatically under Labour and those that didn’t achieve had EMA and funding for adult numeracy and literacy. All of this was swept away in 2010 when the Tories came in and Gove did his “I’m an expert me” but and thought vocational training was too easy and what kids needed was a copy of the bible and to read some Shakespeare.

Coursework and modular examinations where less academic students can achieve were scrapped and years of efforts to put vocational and academic education out into reverse.

Under the Tories investment in in work training has declined, adult education has declined, social mobility has declined.

The only slow person around here is you, you living example of the Dunning-Kruger effect.

You're wasting your time with these.
Why are you so special? A lot of us have decent jobs that pay well.

I own my house outright with no mortgage but you don't see me faffing on about it.

You're not a working class success story mate. You earn about a 4th if what my Tile Hill wood educated sister earns.

You're a sad lonely man who likes to talk about drowning refugees.

You're just a c**t end of
