Fully accurate Boris told jokes and a pack of lies and the cap doffers fell in line. It's the Conservatives' purpose to con people into voting against their own self interest so their mates can accumulate privilege and influence. The Republicans do the same in the US and there are American versions of you who argue against things that are objectively better and more popular when partisan affiliation is removed
I think it’s pretty clear that Cummings and Gove are undermining Boris. Cummings is really Goves man and I don’t think Boris in the top job was ever part of their plan. Hence the continued leaks, witnessed again today. We’ll just be changing the clown, Cummings is the ring master.

Gove is dreaming, he's probably the most disliked of them all

Doesn’t mean it won’t happen. Look at Boris. The least qualified in every way PM we’ve ever had who in any other per era in politics wouldn’t have had a political career full stop based solely on his chaotic personal life and his dishonesty connected to it. He was a second rate journalist and even that was above what should have been the pinnacle of his career.

Johnson has charisma and acting like a bumbling clown gets a huge majority. Gove looks like a snivelling weasel and won’t be enough to con the North a second time

I am livid. I’m not going to get into a debate with anyone but they just said on the briefing about 4k of deaths a day (as mentioned in the media) IF the R rate continues to increase...when they know its decreasing !!!

Thank goodness furlough has been extended, it will be a lifeline for hospitality. Seems like it will be too late for those who were made redundant recently.

Other than Cameron what other Tory leader fits the stereotype?

The R rate is higher than those graphs suggest. It’s just manipulated statistics.

All of them, the aim is to speak posh, use long words and talk about tax cuts without explaining who they’re for. Johnson got an especially large majority because he has charisma and tells jokes

Said a while ago they'd probably u-turn on ending furlough right before the end but I was expecting a bit more notice than 4.5 hours!

Probably cynical of me to think as this lockdown appears to be in response to yesterday's data rather than an attempt to screw over people affected by potential redundancy, but part of me felt the same. I doubt that anyone made redundant already will be accepted onto the scheme, which is a real shame, as the justification will be that such people have 'unviable jobs', or whatever the hawks want to call it.

I find this difficult to understand as the replacement scheme is pretty much the same anyway and as an employer whose already agreed with staff regarding the new scheme I am somewhat puzzled ng that comment

Of course, you can't pay people in the south 67% That was just for the northerners.

Its 74% and is hardly any different regarding the open scheme and actually better than the October furlough

It’s very much a Catch-22 situation with this Government and Cabinet. It would be very very difficult to sack or table a motion of no confidence in Boris Johnson as he is popular amongst a significant percentage of the electorate simply because he was the Prime Minister who got Brexit done. To many, Brexit seems even more important than COVID.

Johnson though cannot really sack any members of the Cabinet as they became pretty much bulletproof when they lined up behind the PM when it came to the Cummings saga. I think it was only Priti Patel who did not herself post the hastily penned template on Twitter...merely retweeting from (I believe) Dominic Raab.

Credit where it is due to the extension of the furlough scheme.
