The dom hyam sale (1 Viewer)

Boddy when the deal signed was very bullish about a new pitch being promised then admitted it was not a contractual agreement at all

He also made a claim that Hyam was not sold for cash flow issues
Hyam was sold because another sale was scuppered because the player concerned told the club he was going nowhere, there had been an inquiry for Hyam turned down but then rekindled by us and it became a buyers market.

Our best defender is MacFadzean

This season yes clearly.

But last season it was the bloke ranked statistically amongst the best in the division and who is now captaining the team at the top of the league.

Blackburn wouldn't swap Hyam for MacFadzean (even if Fadz was 5 years younger)

Hahah you have to be joking.

That's just an absurd comment

So if Hyam was still here and injured you would bring him back even though we don’t even look like having opposition getting a shot on target let alone conceding a goal?

What statistics had him among the best? Who was the best in these “statistics”?

All about balancing the books, when Blackburn first asked, we were saying no as the club clearly expected the books to be balanced from one of the 3 recognised stars we all thought would go, when those deals fell apart, we had to balance with a fire sale late on which is never a good bargaining position.

Wish him well, he has developed way beyond I first thought he would, I thought he lacked pace and would not be able to improve that enough and he has, like all at this level, has fantastic games but will also get caught out at times and have the odd howler.

Move on, he’s gone, we can enjoy or not, what we have now but longing for that ex is a strange and weird torment

surely not

Well that’s the point isn’t it.

Blackburn have conceded a lot of goals this season - we conceded 4 of our goals with Hyam in the team in 2 games - we won League 1 with Shipley in midfield - he’s not the best player in League 1

He's obviously better than Doyle or Rose.

He's been one of the first names on the team sheet since promotion, clearly ahead of Rose in the pecking order so why would he not get ahead of Rose now?

We all know you were massively wrong on Hyam, embarrassingly so, so I don't think your opinion on him is worth a lot to be honest.

“We all know” - yet your not getting an abundance of support on the claim he’s been our best defender.

So if he was here and injured since game two he’s straight back?

Rose has started 74 league games despite a string of injuries so the pecking order statement isn’t factually accurate

What planet are you on, of course it it's factual.

In the two seasons in the Championship Rose has been on the bench 31 times. Hyam has been on the bench 3 times.

How is it not factually accurate that Hyam was above Rose in the pecking order? That's fucking wild even for you.

By some distance - we’ve had our best defensive record since our “best defender” left the club
But our miserly defence also includes Panzo, who you said is nowhere near good enough.

It’s clear that our recent string of clean sheets is mainly down to a change of tactics, a pragmatic approach well executed by the manager. Boring football, but much needed in the circumstances.

So Hyam has missed 74 games? They played together

Biamou was ahead of Gyokeres at one point was he better (actually let’s not go there)

Anyway You are refusing to answer if he’s fit would he be straight in

You also haven’t now admitted he wasn’t our best defender - which no one on this thread seems to agree with do they? Though you seem to be backtracking

The point is without Mcfazdean we struggle - he’s head and shoulders above Hyam - Hyam leading the back 3 would not be a favourable outcome

Have you had a bang to the head?

Again your stock response

Mcfazdean best defender in the last 3 years - yes or no?

Grendel

Would you rather Hyam than Rose or Panzo?

Not really. I think as ex players go he’s forgettable - Panzo isn’t a great defender but I doubt it’s going to make much difference

Do you understand numbers? Do you know that 31 is higher than 3?

In my opinion Hyam has been our best defender in the last 2 seasons. Hence why he was signed by the team currently top of the league. This is not a slight on McFadzean, I think he's been excellent.

That is subjective, a matter of opinion.

Hyam being above Rose in the pecking order for the last 2 seasons is factual. It's just bizarre to try and argue otherwise.

Its equally bizarre to claim Mcfazdean hasn’t been better than Hyam and if Hyam was here and Mcfazdean had been let go we’d be in a far worse place now

I’m not sure what understanding numbers means.

Here's some numbers for you...
5 clean sheets in 6
1 goal conceded in 6 games
Would you honestly break up that defensive unit ? You've got to be joking.

Well who knows it could have been 6 clean sheets in 6 with Hyam. It could have been zero clean sheets. Nobody knows.

But what we do know is Hyam is better than Rose, hence being picked over him for the last 2 seasons, so of course he gets in the team.

Would you keep picking Allen over O'Hare?

This you?

defending seemed pretty dire second half and we rode our luck

Not like you to change the narrative to fit whatever argument you're losing at the time.

Do you think we’d be able to sell Rose for £1.5m then? Sounds like a good deal to me.

We win a game and are off the bottom of the table and we are gloating about a player who was part of a side top of the league before tonight’s games
Dom Hyam is and was a massive part of our success in recent seasons and we are now suddenly better off without him while we are sitting 23rd in the league
#shakesheadandleavesthread

No on is saying he wasn't a great player but our defence has been far better since he left.
