Trump is my favourite comedian of the year already (12 Viewers)

You've already had a trump term lads ffs .. you know what a trump presidency looks like you all said the same when he won before
This time he is so much more full of rage though isn't he.

He's been talking about the enemy within and deporting millions of people and taking out retribution on those who have crossed him.

It's also 8 years on. He's older and you do have to question his cognitive abilities.

He's definitely angrier now and more filled with hate and wanting revenge.

We know what a Trump presidency DID look like. There is absolutely no suggestion this presidency is going to be the same.

Don’t worry I’m sure that will follow as soon as the centrist dads join in from the other politics thread.

There’s a lesson here for Starmer in this.

Well if you follow a trump presidency and still 4 years later then lose to trump again who is to blame but yourself and thick voters

This is well worth a read for those wondering why/how this has happened.

Personally as I’ve said before the whole Biden followed by Harris situation looked like a stitch up even if it wasn’t. She was a poor candidate (that needed to be tested in primaries not be anointed) and the Dems pushed a more progressive ticket. It felt like a kind of arrogance of this isn’t necessarily what you want but this is what you’ll get…and that doesn’t work well, especially in close elections

Hope the democrats can at least win the House to keep some checks and balances but if not, they’ve only got themselves to blame. Now America and the rest of the world will have to deal with the consequences….just hoping it’s not as messy as feared

why do you think you’re being spoken down to? you came out with some shite in response to me saying he will be bad news for poor people (an odd stance to take for a labour supporter, and an even odder time to take it), i told you how it didn’t make any sense, and now you’re upset about your education and being apparently spoken down to?

Ok can I see the tax plans for the poor , then maybe il understand more .. cheers

I don't know how we got here, but here it is.

I do fear the worst, with this maniac in charge.

Wonder what's first on his to do list. Prescription of disinfectant for everyone, or another go at buying Greenland.
Israel Palestine ceasefire and peace at the expense of land

Absolutely. But economically Biden was still more progressive than most of his post war predecessors.

It also still to me doesn’t magically make Trump the better candidate.
It doesn’t at all. But when there is a group of people that don’t see the changes play out in their pocket or in their everyday lives then they start to look elsewhere for a solution.

The people that will inevitably blame the ‘thick voter’ have learnt nothing from US 2016 and Brexit.

He’s hardly going to rein in Israel though. If anything he’ll enable them more and more.

I do agree with this but for the fact that Trump has already had his chance to do that and didn’t change anything for the better. His big plan on healthcare was to boot tens of millions of Americans off their insurance. John McCain stopped that last time, nobody can stop it this time.

That alone is going to hurt a lot of people.

Ah sorry I liked a post that shows the poorest are not paying more tax .. I liked a post where it showed the rich are getting better tax cuts .

I asked to see where the poor will be paying more tax and will be worse off than they are now , I'm not trying to be funny

That is not what the graphic shows. And I don’t know why I have to keep saying it, Elon Musk has openly said that economic pain is coming. What more proof do you want?

i’m not sure why you’re being so insecure about your education and being spoken down to?
I had a lot of Brexit voters in my family and workplace and this was the most consistent theme. People really feel this way but I don’t understand why.

how did you not see the charts when you liked his post?

i’ve not actually said that the poor will be paying more tax under trump mate, if you look i said they will be comparatively worse off. This is because he will give significant tax cuts to the richest in society, which widens the gap between the rich and the poor and generally higher income disparity means lower social mobility for the lowest earners in society. Does that make sense? He’s also a huge fan of deregulation domestically, which means lower protections for workers etc

The other point i made was that he keeps bleating on about goods imported from china and elsewhere, and how he will “make china pay” for the good they’ve done for the world. While that is an undoubtedly popular rally cry for the nationalists, unfortunately most don’t understand that’s it’s not going to be china paying those tariffs, but its businesses. I’ve worked at a $50 billion dollar consumer goods company most of my career, and i’d input costs went up by 20%, do you know what would happen? passed into the consumer immediately. Who is disproportionately impacted by price rises of every day goods and service? poor people

hopefully that makes more sense as to what i meant

Well why don't we just go all out and only allow people to vote between the ages of 18 and 35 and who only have a degree ?

and on top of this, i think BSB did actually share another graphic that showed the impact of trump tax changes

How can you look at that and not see that the poorest are not getting a tax increase? Should have gone to Specsavers

Barring some turnaround in Pennsylvania I have to agree. Turns out my prediction was idiotic!

Kamala Harris’ big problem is that she is a part of the current administration and with over 70% of voters (exit polls) saying the country is moving in the ‘wrong direction’ spelled big trouble.

I also think she tried to have her cake and eat it and it backfired massively. On one hand, she’s on record as saying she’d ‘have changed nothing about the last 4 years’ but also sought to present herself as a ‘change candidate’ i.e. ‘my presidency will not be a continuation of Biden’s administration’. On Biden, Harris being unable to give a straight answer to the question of ‘when she knew Biden was deteriorating’ summed up her up. Whichever answer she gave answer was bad because she either lied to the public about Biden’s mental faculties or worst, genuinely could not tell he was deteriorating.

I can reiterate what I said at the start of the night, Kamala Harris is a historically bad presidential candidate and the Democrats should rue that they didn’t have a primary.

From a political strategy POV, Trump’s gamble to go over low propensity voters has paid off off massively.
