In terms of attendance, I’d be surprised if this gets over 10,000. Just can’t see a big following for this one.

Euro 2016 Prediction League Champion!!
Not sure what the downer is on this draw!

10 years since we played them and they'll bring a large away following so should be a good atmosphere. Plus we have half a chance of winning.

My boy was very excited to be playing a Premier League club. He'll probably know more of their players through them Match Attax cards than I do.:woot:

I know it’s a premier league side but fuckin boring Stoke!

Good thing is Hughes will play a second string as I have a feeling they will be fighting to stay away from that third relegation spot.

Totally underwhelmed.

Quite happy with the draw and to see a PL side at the Ricoh, Stoke have a decent team and some good players. Think it will be a 18k or so crowd.

Rather Stoke at home than something like Port Vale, Brentford or Doncaster away. Happy for a bit of a midlands derby as well.

Seem to recall a nothing challenge on hardman Denis Smith in front of the Main Stand and he got carried off with a broken leg.

Great draw for us!

Typical Coventry mongs already fucking moaning about special offers and low attendances.

Fuck me lads you may as well slit your wrists now...

Great draw-good premiership club who ARE beatable and we at home.

All you knobheads who want half price tickets or moan about 11k attendance for this match should stay at home-where you can moan even more about how shit we were.

Stoke will definitely sell their allocation - so 6k of them - assuming police allow it - surely we can sell getting on for 9k. Embarrassing if there are only 10k in attendance, with 6k being from Stoke!

I’m not moaning at all. I think any PL team is a good draw but would’ve been better (financially) as an away game.

I’m just saying that I don’t think we’ll have a massive surge in gate to anything over 10-12k.

That’s all.

I used to like Fergie (& Wallace was my hero) but lay off the 'mong' stuff?

I don't think we're really in a position to be moaning that we've "only got Stoke" in the cup. They're 3 divisions above us and relatively local for god's sake...

Yeah it's not a Wolves/B'ham/Villa but it's far better than it could've been. To be absolutely honest, as much as I'd have loved to get Villa, Wolves or Leicester, we'd get absolutely spanked, and really the only derby in which we could realistically have any chance of progression would have been Birmingham City.

Also it doesn't say much for us as a fanbase if we can't shift a decent number for this.certainly not expecting a sellout, but considering the majority opinion seems to be that we'd be packing the Ricoh out in the Premier League, we really should be aiming at 18-20000 even in our shambolic current situation.

Isn't that the whole problem though? We'll most likely get walloped by Stoke, but it's hardly a glamour thrashing...

No that was in his Forest time. I'll be surprised if our match is picked for TV, & I reckon the crowd could be 15,000+, but I don't think they are a big enough draw for a 25,000 crowd.
I was there for a game where everyone chanted "Tina" at Shilton and it was definitely against Derby, I think we won 3-0 with a lob by Gallacher. I never saw him play for Forest. I never knew the story but just remember being confused by the chant as young lad...

Yes possibly, but what more can we really ask for. A local premier league side. We really do seem to be the epitome of fair weather fans. Always harping on about our massive fanbase, and getting a premier league side up at the Ricoh, now we're moaning that it's not a glamorous enough premier league side. Another excuse not to get behind the side.

Reminds me of a couple of years back when everyone was moaning that we'd got "shitty Barnsley" in the next round of the cup, conveniently forgetting they were a division above us.

We've a fan base that's largely never pleased anyway what ever the scenario.
Could give away a free hotdog and a cup tea or coffee with every ticket and people would moan there's no green tea available or the water was too hot.

There's always something!

Just checked Stoke 3rd round line up for last season
They put a strong side out but still lost 0 2 at home to Wolves
21,000 there which I guess would have included a big number of Wolves fans

I wouldn’t worry about gates or how much we make, we could draw st Home win the replay at Stoke, draw the big boys Man United get a full house at Old Trafford and not one penny will find itself towards the football side of things, remember Spurs away, Arsenal away and Man United away and the 13000 Sky Blue fans who made the trip to Old Trafford where did all those receipts go ? and I won’t even start on last seasons Wembley exploits.

I kind of get it, but still love the fact that we, lowly Coventry City still feel sufficiently big enough to 'ppfffttt' the visit of Prem Lg Stoke City!

I love all these people having the attitude of not going because it's Stoke and they are supposedly not a big club, but are happy for us to get near outnumbered at home.

The most typical Coventry thing ever.

Do they still play at Ricoh? 32k and 15% = 4500 and some if we get full allocation. Excellent
On their forum they're working out how many tickets we have to give them because they expect them to be in demand. We're moaning about a shit draw and half empty ground.

You'd think we were there PL team and they were the ones getting excited about playing a team with some big names.

Not exactly a great sign for any potential buyers if we only get 15K for our first home game against a PL side in nearly 9 years.

Really don't get the 10,000-12,000 thinking.

Stoke will bring a large following.

15,000 I think is quite a reasonable conclusion to come to. City vs a Premier club and they are only an hour or so straight up the M6.

My initial reactions: home draw, excellent, avoided a league one or two club, excellent.

Stoke, oh well, 17000 crowd and any Mark Hughes team generally are thugs so our kids will struggle.

Would be good for £15 tickets and try and get 20k there, especially if we can string some results together over Christmas.

Yes, what did Robinson, Elliott & co do with the share of the gate receipts from Old Trafford?

Judging by the so called home fans attendance in previous rounds (2500) we won’t get get more than 10k fans total , and Stoke may even out number us. Most of our so called Arm chair fans will always find excuses to stay away. They expect the perfect draw. Lol

The true hard core fans will always turn up majority of the time ( although not many of them left).

Very sad days indeed when Mansfield, High Wycombe and Notts county all got over 4K at home to non league teams.

Yet we struggled to barely got just over 2k home fans (fair play Boreham bringing close to 600).

This is a prem team coming to town though. Changes things
Exactly.

Cannot judge what has come before it. The Checkatrade Trophy final being a case in point. Look at the attendances in the competition prior to that.

The fact it is a cup game against much higher opposition will appeal to many to come along.

Sad really, when three points vs Chesterfield at home on New Year’s Day is arguably more important.

Agreed Stoke will be a pressure off game. But hardly in the big scheme of things anything as important as Three massive points vs Chesterfield.

Yet no doubt we may get more For Stoke.

Chesterfield should be a good crowd. They will bring a few (again not too far away). I reckon it may well be 10,000+ as long as we are still right up there and doing well.
