No not protecting us , hopefully getting them to get off their lazy arses put down the remote and earn a living .... is that so bad ?

No it's not - but for every scrounger, you have 100 people that work all the hours god sends and still end up homeless. Or are victimised by private landlords that hoovered up new housing supposed to have been social housing. What about those previously in the armed forces that are now homeless? Is that OK so that a few of the 'scratchcard mob' get hung out to dry?

Sure its just coincidence that the UK, France and US bomb Syria, benefiting the Saudi backed ISIS, when in the last 5 weeks the UK, France and US have all agreed large arms deals with Saudi.

Some, genuine, questions for those that agree with the bombing.

On what basis in international law do you think the bombings are legal given that international law requires either a mandate from the UN or the country carrying out the bombing to be acting in self defence?

What evidence is there that the targets were genuine? All I can see is May saying that not even MPs will be shown the alleged evidence. On the opposite side it was only a couple of weeks ago the OPCW declared there was no chemical weapons production or storage at the site.

Why now? Since 21 August 2013, the date of the worst chemical weapon attack in Syria to date, there have been over 85 chemical weapons attacks in Syria. Many of which were worse than the Douma attack. Incidentally the recent Douma attack was at least the sixth time this year the area has been targeted with chemical weapons.

If the issue is chemical weapons use then why haven't we done anything about the attacks in Darfur by the Sudanese government?

This is the most bizarre stance you've ever taken on here and theres been a few. You're quite happy for weapons we export to be used to kill thousands of innocent people and be passed to the likes of ISIS as long as the UK makes a few quid.

Dave - weapons kill people

if you think the Windrush debacle has strengthened her hand then you and I have very different ideas about what a strong hand is.
David Lammy absolutely wiped the floor with Amber Rudd but make no mistake, the root of this debacle is mays tenure as Home Secretary.
Same as the hike in crime and many other things, she's hopeless, you might think she's a better option than Corbyn, fair enough, but I don't know how anyone can deny how appalling she is.
While I whole heartedly agree with this, what manner from heaven on a day such as this .
The sceptical/cynic in me questions the whole timeframe of recent events and the perceived lack of space/time for scrutiny.
Even the Skripal OPCW report was written by the 27th March IIRC ,that is roughly 4days from the date of sample collecting .

Exactly my point, and you're happy that we sell them to terrorists as long as we make a few quid.

So if we didn’t no one would have arms? It’s a naive nonsensical argument.

I don't understand what May is doing.

Corbyn in reality should be a million miles away from the PM position, but it feels like May is doing everything she can to hand the reigns over.

I'm so dissilusioned with politics. How can they all be so shit?

You could apply the same logic to anything. If you can't complete eradicate something completely don't bother and just let it happen. Its the same argument the NRA use.
It's OK Google are getting in on the act now regardless of how that sits with their employees .
But the Robots are coming and nobody will to be there to pull the levers or operate the controls, small mercies.
Grendel does unfortunately have a valid point, someone is going to make and sell weapons.
I guess If you could reduce the demand it becomes uneconomic to produce or reduce the competition and they become too uneconomic to buy.
Another way may be to employ that capitol on altruistic ventures rather than destructive, guess it all comes down to how you prop up the ailing dollar .

So Dave I assume your moral stance means you are desperate to leave the Eu as soon as possible as you cannot beat to be part of the Brussels machine that supports the arms trade in the Middle East?

Has anyone read the articles about a Skirmish beteeen the "Wagner Mercenaries ", Russians, up in the North East of Syria near the SDF(KPP)positions.Deir al Zour.
This Kurd Held region is oil rich and obviously valuable to the Syrian State
This was around the middle of February.
This was referred to by Mike Pompeo the other day when he remarked we've already defeated the Russians via sanctions, expulsions and that we've killed 200 of them.
The Russians claim it was a malitia who hadn't advised of their movemrnts, which they would normally relay to the Americans via their deconfliction protocol.
This was a story a Russian journalist called Bodin was working on, he mysteriously fell from his Fifth floor appartment balcony over the weekend.
There have been sources circulating in arab media, then Iranian that there are British Special services (11) who have been captured, this finally came up in British media late last week in the Mail which resulted in a denial .
Something else is going on.

Well I certainly didn't vote to stay in it but I must have missed the part where EU members were forced to sell arms to Saudi. In fact I seem to recall the EU pushing for an arms embargo but it being opposed by the UK.

Talk is cheap and actions most definitely speak louder than words. I’ve posted several links on here regarding the EU escalating investment into arming the Middle East.
Just like when they brought laws out concerning diesel engines and the polution they cause in built up areas. But they did nothing about them until an environment professor took legal action to make them uphold the laws they made.

No one is saying they are forced but they do.

France is the third biggest arms seller globally and Saudi abd the UAE are it’s biggest customers.

Tony hasn’t answered my question regarding his own statements on UKIP has he?

He never answers a lot. Because he comes out with so much crap I suppose.

I’ve answered you on the other thread so stop talking crap. Your response was to point the finger at remainers accusing them of calling me a racist while calling me a racist yourself.

One answer was saying the £ € exchange rate at the time of the Brexit vote was 1:50 when it was 1:30 to make it look even worse than it was. The rest of the time you changed the subject.

I answer your question every time you pull this childish trick. You carry on doing it because I’m not answering it again. It says more about your own character than it does mine so knock yourself out.
You rarely answer anything. And when you do it is even rarer that you come out with the truth. So nothing will be changing then.

Oh Jezza.
Floored by Mays response over the destruction of boarding cards .
Her responding that the decision was taken in 2009 during the Labour administration.
Though that is confused by the Home office assertion that it was a Border force decision in 2010.

The whole thing is a joke. And a very bad one at that. People are losing their jobs and homes because of it.

Yes Labour started it off by destroying the cards. But the Tories are in now and have been in too long....sorry and are in when this has all kicked off. They are to blame for what is happening. They are looking for easy targets to make their numbers look good. But they are ruining lives in the process. I hope those that have lost out get compensated.

May: Labour axed Windrush landing cards

Absolutely concur ,Compensation didn't get mentioned, might have been helpful to have brought that up.
Might also have been helpful to have collated the numbers who have been repatriated ,which the Home Office keep obfuscating.

It is a scandal that this has occurred. People should be losing their jobs for their incompetence and sheer wilful desire to ruin the lives of these innocent victims.

So now their appears to be real confusion over the accuracy of this with contradicting statements - so what do the BBC do... have it as their main story.

Not that anyone should be surprised - they love a good factless conspiracy.

I would guess that May is right about the dates. It became her job afterwards. And with the way politicians are I would also guess that she was waiting for something like this.

But in no way does it make May or the Tories innocent in any way. So one bloke got refused cancer treatment. I am speechless.

Clearly the destruction of Boarding cards hasn't helped, but as that appears prior to her stint as HS and her legislation.
In isolation that had no effect .
If only the research had been as vigorous at the time as it was apparently overnight to get out of jail, quite telling for me.
Then you read anecdotal accounts from Immigration staff, the mature ones who were informed on history of 'Windrush',trying to placate younger colleagues high fiving each other when getting a result, febrile !!
