Certainly no increase in hospital numbers yet. Am aware of many more positive cases in those around me though. None at all poorly though so that’s great
Same here, know of a good few people who have it, all currently saying its sniffles and scratchy throat but other than that fine
Interesting wording from Sturgeon today.
Nothing - including lockdown - is inevitable, says Sturgeon
I would say the latest thinking is almost currently nailed on then to have one.
The fact hospital admissions and deaths are still low either proves the booster programme is going well or Omicron isn't as severe as the government/media are making out

She’ll just see what Boris does then copy it with a few tweaks to seem ‘better’
Yep, I would agree with that.
At the moment the devolved administrations seem to be leading the way with Westminster dragging their feet.
i think they can do only so much in the framework Westminster sets for them.

This is just a politician's way of saying "Lockdown isn't inevitable unless you make me do it by you leaving your house"
Is this really the case? Not really looked into it but just from things I've seen in the news France are restricting who can come in and in Ontario events now have a 50% capacity limit.Seems only this country is wetting itself so far

Numerous people on the ground in South Africa who have experienced this wave for weeks now have said hospitalisations etc are low.
The data coming out of there also supports this.
Yes before anyone starts crying, there is a different demographic in SA, younger population, less densely populated.
But they're also nowhere near our percentage of people jabbed and have a high level of H.I.V which as we all know compromises immune systems.
Of course, we don't fully know yet but I am erring on the side of this not being anywhere near a bad as the government is trying to convince us it will be.
Modern treatments for HIV are essentially a cure. They even stop you passing it on. So not sure you’re right about it suppressing the immune system anymore.Numerous people on the ground in South Africa who have experienced this wave for weeks now have said hospitalisations etc are low.

They have more current restrictions in SA than we do here, I don't know why you're saying the country is wetting its knickers.
It's been very much the other way round throughout the pandemic. Johnson has followed what she and Wales have done and generally too late. She’ll just see what Boris does then copy it with a few tweaks to seem ‘better’
Just a coincidence i guessYeah moving to a different country probably has more to do with it than vaccine status.
It really is wetting its collective knickers though - people cancelling xmas events etc without any actual proof that it's the 'deadly' disease that the mainstream media are claiming it to be - where's the swathes of people that are dying from it? Even the one person that died died WITH it & not FROM it
DR. ANGELIQUE COETZEE: Britain is overreacting to Omicron
DR. ANGELIQUE COETZEE: With predictions of one million cases by the end of the month, I gather there is talk of Christmas being cancelled and a possible New Year lockdown.www.dailymail.co.uk
South Africa and Denmark have been saying for a while it's mild and there are minimal admissions compared to previous waves.
Seems only this country is wetting itself so far
They don't make Vikings like they used toDenmark today closed all concert halls, museums, theatres, cinemas and galleries, and banned all alcohol sales after 10pm.

To be fair FP, I’m fuming because I’ve come back home to see everyone and the media’s going fucking mad again about covid and everyone’s cancelled Christmas parties and the footballs been cancelled. Everyone’s being told to only see people if they really need to or want to and the Welsh government have announced restrictions again from the 27th.They have more current restrictions in SA than we do here, I don't know why you're saying the country is wetting its knickers.
If you asked me 6/12 months ago I’d said that’s a really bad stance to take and now I’m exactly the fucking same. Finally, if rumours are true about Sage pushing for a potential immediate ‘two week’ lockdown ie no mixing of households and only outdoor hospitality, they can do one unless they’ve got real life data to back it up. I never thought I’d say this but if it’s unvaccinated getting seriously ill and ending up in hospital, not those who are vaccinated/boosted, lock them down, not people who have done everything asked of them.

Cancelled coming over for Christmas, seems too much of a mess over there.
Yeah I agree with you, I’ve got my booster on 30th and don’t want to take the risk of ending up not being able to get back over.I think it will be a mess everywhere in terms of case numbers sick boy. If Omicron is as transmissible as it appears then only stricter measures will have an effect. Sorry if I keep repeating myself but it’s hospitalisations/Covid inpatients that’s got to be the focus now
