Actually, it has. Go and Google the impact on the numbers on public transport since the work from home directive was announced.

Then see if you can dig out the stats on the number of cancelled bookings in the hospitality sector in the same period.

What you'll see is that behaviour has already changed, and therefore the modellers have quite honestly said that the assumptions used no longer apply.

You've then called BS on it, which is really odd because they're basically saying, quite openly, 'we can't be certain'.

This kind of thing, along with your repeating the myth about viruses always becoming less virulent, makes me wonder if you're really looking at this with a genuinely critical eye, or whether you've already made your mind up that you're being lied to and you're scrabbling around for something to prove it.

Saying we can’t be certain is what they should have said when they released in information with 1 million cases a day. The number that Sage went on TV shouting from the roof tops. Javid pushed after Whitty held a meeting with him to go over “new” information.

So was the large number used as a way to push plan B ? with the modellers knowing with a few small tweaks to behaviour the numbers would not be anywhere near as scary. As surely that had modelled more scenarios.

Maybe I look for more positive about the outcome of Covid than others that we have to start looking for a way out. We cant keep an endless cycle of major restrictions for ever new mutation. especially when we don't follow the science from other countries.

Other wise we wont have any sort of industry’s left. No industry, no money, no money, no NHS.

Unfortunately science as been infiltrated by politics on all side of the political spectrum. Just look at “independent” Sage who are clearly anti government group. With no information to who funds them.

I find things slightly odd that vaccine companies don't want to give migrants vaccines as worried about major side effects as they don't have the indemnities that other countries have given them. due to side effects

I don't believe we are being lied to fully. I think people in high places don't quite tell the truth and havent done from day 1.

One thing I don't get is why isn't it being plastered everywhere not to panic and not to go to hospital until you get to a certain point and really need it?

People will be getting it and thinking they might die because of the TV and fearmongering so instead of resting and letting it blow over will be then trying the NHS.

Obviously when it gets to life and death then that's when you need the hospital but there's no real message out there that says "Only ring an ambulance when you struggle to breath, don't go to A and E unless..."

That was their call not mine, im happy with jabbed and unjabbed people, tbf i think its mostly because i moved country they just cant be fucked with me anymore.

Yeah moving to a different country probably has more to do with it than vaccine status.

Certainly no increase in hospital numbers yet. Am aware of many more positive cases in those around me though. None at all poorly though so that’s great

Probably another week or so before we know if patients and more importantly Covid inpatients are increasing rapidly due to Omicron. Agree about anecdotal evidence, hearing the same but then again all are vaccinated

The fact hospital admissions and deaths are still low either proves the booster programme is going well or Omicron isn't as severe as the government/media are making out

South Africa and Denmark have been saying for a while it's mild and there are minimal admissions compared to previous waves.

Seems only this country is wetting itself so far

She’ll just see what Boris does then copy it with a few tweaks to seem ‘better’

Yep, I would agree with that.

At the moment the devolved administrations seem to be leading the way with Westminster dragging their feet.

i think they can do only so much in the framework Westminster sets for them.

Mark Drakeford was complaining that when he wants to implement things of his own accord Westminster doesn’t automatically grant the funding.

No shit

Is this really the case? Not really looked into it but just from things I've seen in the news France are restricting who can come in and in Ontario events now have a 50% capacity limit.

Numerous people on the ground in South Africa who have experienced this wave for weeks now have said hospitalisations etc are low.

The data coming out of there also supports this.

Yes before anyone starts crying, there is a different demographic in SA, younger population, less densely populated.

But they're also nowhere near our percentage of people jabbed and have a high level of H.I.V which as we all know compromises immune systems.

Of course, we don't fully know yet but I am erring on the side of this not being anywhere near a bad as the government is trying to convince us it will be.

They have more current restrictions in SA than we do here, I don't know why you're saying the country is wetting its knickers.

Modern treatments for HIV are essentially a cure. They even stop you passing it on. So not sure you’re right about it suppressing the immune system anymore.

It really is wetting its collective knickers though - people cancelling xmas events etc without any actual proof that it's the 'deadly' disease that the mainstream media are claiming it to be - where's the swathes of people that are dying from it? Even the one person that died died WITH it & not FROM it

Do you have any examples of the media claiming it to be 'deadly'?

The only people wetting their knickers are the ones who read/hear something, twist it or misinterpret it and then get angry at what they've just misinterpreted!

Im just off to put on my grim reaper outfit and pick up my scythe, then il come back and join you all to wallow in how many thousands of deaths we can expect

Just a quick cautionary tale for those seeing higher risk relatives this xmas. I’m triple jabbed and already had covid (July) but took a pcr after getting pinged earlier in the week (mate who Id seen tested positive). I’ve could’ve just done daily LFs but had been to a hospital consultancy appt in morning (I’d taken an LF before going and was clear) so decided to take pcr so I could let them know if I was pcr positive

Two days later, I get my positive pcr result....unfuckinbelievable...but I’m still showing as negative on LF. The good news is if I didn’t catch it from my mate I’ve been pretty much asymptomatic...which is hopefully the same for many who get Omicron and are vaccinated/boosted. However those who want to be extra cautious and are going to be around high risk relatives might want to get a PCR mid next week…although be prepared to have Xmas plans fucked up as I think a lot might have it but don’t even know !

Finally, if rumours are true about Sage pushing for a potential immediate ‘two week’ lockdown ie no mixing of households and only outdoor hospitality, they can do one unless they’ve got real life data to back it up. I never thought I’d say this but if it’s unvaccinated getting seriously ill and ending up in hospital, not those who are vaccinated/boosted, lock them down, not people who have done everything asked of them.

To be fair FP, I’m fuming because I’ve come back home to see everyone and the media’s going fucking mad again about covid and everyone’s cancelled Christmas parties and the footballs been cancelled. Everyone’s being told to only see people if they really need to or want to and the Welsh government have announced restrictions again from the 27th.

People are reacting to the way it’s being reported and our leadership. All of this with how many deaths from omnicron? Is it still just the 1? Genuine question not being a prick.

And as nick shared previously positive cases are still about 5% of tests taken. Everyone is (rightly) testing like mad.

If you asked me 6/12 months ago I’d said that’s a really bad stance to take and now I’m exactly the fucking same.
