They don't completely deny it in that statement which only adds fuel to the fire.

And funny how the 2 team that play there are in the third tier of their leagues....

Could be a hat trick;)

your right I want us to stay where we are in this shit league.

My argument is where are we going to make any money from a 12,000 seater ground with no room for facilities to accommodate opening it at non match days, except for small conference rooms that you can already get at any of the City established hotels.
So lets build this ground and then pay back more in loans to the ones that have financed it then we pay in rent currently, then there is the upkeep and everything else that goes with owning it, we will actually be worse off surely.

BTW our rental deal is £100,000/ season at the moment most clubs pay more then that just for the upkeep of their stadiums. So how are we in the bottom 3-4?

Yes but Grendull and his cronies will have the chance to stick two fingers up to wasps, ccc, Higgs, ct, fickle ccfc fans etc. etc. so it's clearly a price worth paying.

What's the likelihood of the next rental deal being £100k? We also pay matchday expenses which contribute to the upkeep of the stadium.

And why are we getting hung up on the 12k? It said 12-16k with capacity to extend.

Until we see any business case we can't rule in or rule out anything. We will have to stay at the Ricoh for another 10 years anyway.

With this season being so good I'm wondering where everyone is. That's not slagging them off. I'm saying if we can't even get over 12K now then a move to a 15K stadium would be more than adequate to start with. Seriously, it's not that difficult to understand. Still, I know since the Hill days you like to play the victim, that's fine.

And, yet again, you show your lack of understanding. I never said I was happy. I said (for the millionth time) to start with.

Victim?
That was you surely all the abuse we gave you and all the other City fans week after week.

And yes I understand where you are coming from but it still doesn't make it/feel right.

bright side at least we got a mention on Central News

Does every post you write have to include 'Grendull'? You have an unhealthy obsession with an anonymous person on an internet forum. Phone your doctor in the morning.

Except as I said the other day there is an on cost with CCFC in regards revenue vs cost and delays in sponsorship with the negative publicity around the court case. If this drags on we will get a take it or leave it offer Wasps.

Sisu only give out enough information to keep the fire glowing.
Surprised how many people run with it but don't seem bothered about any details.

No one is running with anything you massive weapon. Everyone is saying its not going to happen, some are saying it would be good with regards to location etc.

i personally hope it happens as i played there twice in the early 80s for Cardinal Wiseman in the Cov Cup School finals so can proudly boast I have played on the hallow turf of CCFC :)

The Old Folk buying the retirement homes would love that :D

If im honest, despite the location being ideal, I dont think it will be where we build. Size of parking facilities? Could it be a 7 day a week / community hub type venue the club have always said they wanted?

THat said, the statement neither confirms nor denies it..............

Ive already said its a great location but people seem to be lowering their standards on the stadium size. Also the need to provide 365 day incomes seems to have been forgot.

You're joking aren't you. CCFC moving to a 12-15k ground would leave Wasps the only club in Coventry with any ambition and the opportunity to grow their fan base. This could actually play into Wasps long term plans nicely.

I'm not promoting that and funnily enough neither is Italia.

Some people are so happy to leave the Ricoh they're yet to engage their brains and actually work out how this is potentially bad news for CCFC and good news for Wasps.

Not wanting to get in the way of a good ol' SBT digital punch-up but...

  1. Some local media et al pushing the idea of a 10-year Ricoh deal for CCFC
  2. CRFC on the verge of signing up the freehold
  3. Rumours start about the Butts Arena for CCFC (Side note: From who and why?)
  4. A certain media outlet (known for its relationship with the local council) post an article rubbishing other media outlets' stories
  5. Another media outlet publish a story giving more details (essentially rebutting 4.)
  6. And here we are now...

Ultimately, it's a choice between a rental deal at the Ricoh or a stadium for CCFC. If they can continue with planning for a city centre site then the stadium will have to go ahead. If the council refuse then they will have done over the club for a second time. What do fans & residents want?

I'm sure there will be people who would prefer the club to rent, but then you have to ask yourself why and what is their track record in how they support the club's development?

The Butts is too small. Love the area - my mother was born there. But, no space for revenue bringing Assets.

Les Reid has jumped the gun. CA will not back this plan - he has ( apparently ) said " Coventry area ".

At best this is a bargaining ploy.

Otherwise, love the idea. Celebrated my 16th in the "Old Dyers Arms". My great grandfather drank in the "Malt Shovel" ( now gone ).

BTW we will always rent, either from SISU's investors or Wasps. Don't BS the SBT posters. Please.

For me in order to be successful has to have everything the ricoh has but main thing for me is the staduim extension, as mentioned before what happens and i know its a big if we sustain a premier league run, if we cant expand the stadium past 2ok to ricoh capacity its lost revenue and if cant have revenue ricoh takes in how much revenue will it cost ccfc in the long run. If they can extend stadium capacity over 30k great but if not well be losing revenue and limited what fans can be offered.

Most people have said they need to see the business case to rule in or rule out.

No one has said "yes, we should leave the Ricoh immediately and build this stadium". We're discussing whether a c20k (because that the suggested final capacity) stadium near the city centre would be a good thing theoretically or not.

You just need to look at clubs with similar size grounds and see where they are. It's league one/two maybe a season in the championship every other decade at best. If we're lucky we can look forward to an away draw at Leicester in a cup and listen to them singing this is your Wembley.

My other fear is that this could be yet another example of SISU overplaying their hand in negotiations. If I was Wasps I'd be thinking if they go they've cut their potential customer base from 32k to 12-15k overnight and they are no longer our biggest competitor in the area, do we really want to be offering them a deal that will make them stay?

Personally I think anyone even entertaining the ludicrous thought of having a new stadium built needs their heads looking at. Which is why for me this new bloke has lost any credibility he may have had from the off. Especially the shit about "I believe Coventry should play in Coventry"....well yes!
We should be at the Ricoh, full stop. Regardless of us being 'only' tenants.
The owners should be negotiating how best to carry on long term and maybe get a bit more identity there, for example equally large badges would be a start (although i realise as owners wasps can do whatever they like pretty much).

Sisu need to be aware of what we want or we may not go to a new stadium. This is an input into their business plan.
Maybe I'm a little paranoid but I hope they don't read this thread and think a 12,000 stadium is okay.

The whole it has to be 30k argument isn't true. What it has to do is allow us to generate enough revenue through either tickets or other ways to get promoted from the championship. With the way the money in the topflight is going we could probably afford to buy Wasps out several times anyway if we ever did get in the top flight.

2 great looking 21000 seat stadiums with teams that play in sky blue, Malmö at the Swedbank Arena and Kansas City playing at Sporting Park, can anyone do the links.
We also have a hotel at the Butts already think it's a Premier in at the moment.
I'm sure Torino in Serie A moved to a an out of town stadium and the fans hated it and never turned up and they eventually moved back to near the centre of Turin.
The Ricoh has to be one of the most soulless grounds ever built for football in this country, teams like Coventry should have stadiums at the heart of the community not stuck on the outskirts

Well, it will never happen. Even SISU are not confirming it. They let Rob S and Les Reid put their reputations on the block in some sort of tactical ploy. More lmportant is CA's meeting with Wasps. He needs figures to make a comparison of renting from Wasps or renting from SISU's stadium investors.

You're go go using on the 12-15k and not the 20k final.

Even 12-15k wasps can charges us £300-400k+ pa rent, sell advertising, get f&b's car parking etc. Of course they will offer us a deal to stay.

The club has long standing policy of refusing to rule out any location outright. It's in order to prevent identification by elimination.
Genuine question, have they released a statement on every potential site then that has been mentioned in the past?

Just found it interesting they released a statement so quickly on this particular one which doesn't fully dismiss it.

They don't need to read the thread, the hard facts tell them that 12,000 is okay. If 15,000 were turning up every week they would be considering that.
