This is still a great country. From london, to cornwall/Devon to the lakes. As a nation we spend a lot of time talking it down because of frustration with politics, weather etc and take so much for granted, but we’re lucky to have been born here
Well, Cornwall, Devon and the Lakes haven’t been concreted over yet.

I see Labour have said they have no intention of applying CGT to primary residences. Time will tell of course. How about another Labour tax raid on private pensions? Good idea?

This is why labour need a clear vision of what they want to be and what they want yo achieve as they are being pulled by both sides

So their manifesto doesn’t give a clear vision and neither does the party? Why vote for then then?
Does any party? How many people do you think actually spend time looking at policy and reading manifestos before deciding who to vote for?

We elected the last government based on them repeatedly saying 'get Brexit done'!

There was never any chance of it. It was a random rumour made up by the Tories.

Most wealth in this country is housing or pensions so if people want a wealth tax that’s probably where it would fall. It’s not like we’ve got people sat about with stacks of gold coins under their bed.

Many of these transport issues could be alleviated by not taking another 600,000 people every year. Someone mentioned, we’ve not reached our ‘peak’ but what is our peak ? 80 million, 100 million ? We are becoming a nation of housing estates without any accompanying services.

Could do 100m+ no worries. And you wouldn’t even notice it outside of about five cities, which would all be better off for it.

Like the fucking Amish this. “Oh no this specific point in time is actually the peak of our civilisation. Only down from here” absolute waffle.

It’s nothing like the Amish.

Another 50%? Over what time period? That would result in the UK having about the highest population density in Europe.

So another raid on pensions is acceptable to you?

If people aren't happy with immigration now have they spared a thought as to what is going to happen when more and more of the planet becomes uninhabitable due to climate change?
As a rough rule of thumb those most concerned with immigration also tend to delve into climate change denial. See any reform party spokesperson as an example. So you’re talking about a scenario that they don’t believe in. To them it’s just all project fear, we’ve had enough of experts etc.

Successive governments have utterly failed the country, I’m not sure rail links are the best yardstick though.
There’s the not so minor difference that the UK is an island and does not share a customs border with any of its neighbours. So comparison with EU countries is flawed from the get go.

The railway infrastructure is a mess though. Outsourcing rather than out and out privatising/nationalising the railway has led to worst of both worlds. The private company who runs the government contract has no competition, is usually picked on costing the least so the service and cost we get is poor.
