I haven't really seen any bile or hatred.

Just apathy more than anything and general bemusement I'd say.

No real point, just a general observation of how pathetic this board has become turning almost every thread into bile and hatred. 27 pages on this one showing how much nobody cares, mostly by people who are against the monarchy.

I think my favourite is Christian pete 'liking' all the snidey comments, enhancing my view that religious people are generally among the worst in society.
The BBC has just spent half an hour talking about how much the Queens faith meant to her. Not very nice describing her the worst in society on the day she’s being buried. Shame on you, just embarrassing.

Only hate I’ve seen on here has been directed at Andrew, deservingly. Or Harry, for reasons only Daily Mail readers can explain.

I am more bemused than anything. We are told often that the institution 'has no power anyway', but look at the last few weeks where people have been arrested for no more than holding up a placard and where goodness knows how much has been spent to commemorate one person.

There is one thing I agree with from the royal commentators though-her reign and death are a very apt metaphor for the decline of the country as a whole.

The amount of posts trying to prove that each of you cares less than the one before is as embarrassing as the response to her death.
I don't see that at all. I don't think anyone is trying to show they care less than anyone else. Lots of people on here who are not monarchists, but it's been pretty respectful as the whole. The main target has been the coverage and the way, way over the top saturation of the event.

It's gotten almost surreal with the lengths people are seemingly going to "pay their respects." It's become very comical to be honest and for me, that cheapens the death of the Queen.

There is so much nonsense about, as has been shown with the Centre Parcs and bass being removed from songs on the radio and Morrisons lowering the volume of their till beeps etc.

I don't think anyone is trying to show they care less than anyone else. They are just showing up the ludicrousness of much of what is going on.

And as has been said. There's not really been any nastiness against the Queen. That has been saved for Prince Andrew and surely no-one can have any qualms about that at all given the circumstances.

It's fair to say I'd have watched it out of interest for the pageantry and theatre if I hadn't had it hit over my head all week.

If others have, fair play to them, but they won't be posting on here, they'll be raising a toast to her majesty.

Pleased you're watching it. I'm not even particularly a royalist just not as anti royal as the many lovely socialists on here.

One thing the last week has shown is a prime example of how much social media and to some extent the media skew things.
Was out and about today life going on as normal, went to the pub, must people not interested but a fair few who were watching on the tele with no one bothering them.

I'd be happy as well with the complete disintegration of the Honours System, which seems to me are the one's mostly telling us what a jolly good show a Constitutional Monarchy actually is.

Have watched bits and pieces. Big fan of the pipes and drums so have intentionally made effort to see those parts.

I reckon most socialists would be far happier with the abolishment of an unlected House of Lords than the Monarchy.

Most socialists would want brexit

Yup, but at least I could aspire to replace them without having to murder a few million people until I'm first in line

Yes I’m sure that applies with President Putin

I’ve also had it on in the background as it’s history playing out in front of us. We won’t be part of this again, when Charles goes it won’t quite have the same reaction and ceremony.

Too distracted by kids to fully watch it and take it all, but the background music was very atmospheric and mood setting.

Perhaps the public/companies gestures have been OTT and staged, but that shouldn’t take away from the Queen.

Fair chunk of moaning on here about it all, I haven’t seen most of it as I just haven’t watched or read about it, other than the bits I wanted to see. We live in an age of numerous streaming services, channels, news outlets and the internet. Pretty easy to avoid something if you want to.

I dread to think just how much today alone, has cost the country. Ultimate £billions no doubt! No shops doing business, no transport, no cafes or restaurants and not even advertising on TV! (Blessing in disguise that!). No-one can buy and sell it seems. You can't even advertise your goods for sale on TV. And you're buggered if you need your car in an emergency. Most garages are shut.
Who's paying for all this? You and me I guess. Always is. Prices will increase to recoup todays losses. And will the Windsors give a shit? Will they hell! That family is worth billions themselves but I bet they wouldn't help anyone out!

Meanwhile in the area where much of this expensive pagentry has been going on there are people sleeping on the streets.

What do you base that comment on?

The fact that socialist parties are anti federalist and wanted Brexit and Labour oddly when they actually were socialist wanted out the EU

Enoch Powell and Michael Foot were very close allies regarding this and became good friends
